Georgia Flooding –

Praying for families, that have been caught in the
flooding. More rain to come. Keep them in your
prayers.

I Need A Job

I need a job with benefits if you please
Give me a chance please, to be at ease

To provide for myself, family, and other needs
Figurehead I am, not some low head

I need a job with benefits if you please
Give me a chance please, to be at ease

Politics states plenty of jobs
Then why do you ascertained
I can’t maintain or stake a claim

I need a job with benefits if you please
Give me a chance please, to be at ease

Tell me is it my gender, race, religion or creed
God knows I have needs
See me as you please
Check out my credentials, BA, MA, PHD

I need a job with benefits if you please
Give me a chance to be at ease

I’ve worked hard for my accomplishments
To represent documents, not incompetence
Who am I you ask
I am you without the mask

I need a job with benefits if you please
Give me a chance to be at ease

Leap of Faith

Well I did it, know what? I went to a barber (lady) and had all my hair
cut off down to a fade. Oh my God it feels wonderful. I look good too!
Thank you Joe & Rena for giving me a beautiful round head.

“COURAGE”

Courage to stand up for what you believe to be right
“YOU CAN DO THIS”
Courage to believe in change
When there is a lot to blame
“YOU CAN DO THIS”
Courage to hold on when all is gone
“YOU CAN DO THIS”
Courage to believe by faith not sight
That everything no matter what will turn out all right
“YOU CAN DO THIS”

Pharmaceutical Companies – Just Stop Please!

Who are the Pimps and who are the whores? President Obama is trying to pass Health Care
Reform, OK, but what about the Pharmaceutical Companies that have been ripping off Americans
for years, and years. I wonder what do their CEO bonuses look like every year. They tried
to pacify us with Generic drugs as a problem solver to main frame name products.

Yet I will not believe what they are charging for some medications is correct; or just profit
making for there Senior Staff members. Granted there is a lot of science to bio-tech, to help
folks overcome or cure certain diseases. Aren’t there grants and funding for that, or maybe
budget line items to cover these areas. Not charging people outlandish prices for medications.

We live in economic hardship times, folks losing their homes, jobs, family, fixed incomes, and
you have the audacity to charge prices for medications that could possibly save lives, but folks
can’t afford to pay for them. Is this another AIG platform, or an arena for pimping the nation?
Inquiring minds really want to know.

My best friend died a few years ago, not just because of respiratory disease, but because she
could not afford the medications that could have probably sustain her life for a few more years.
One pill alone was $100, yes you heard me right $100 for one pill. What kind of foolishness is
this. Pharmaceutical Companies please stop the madness – Just Stop Please!!!

RIP – Henry Gipson

Depending on your age, Gibson was one of those actors whose face you knew well, though you couldn’t remember his name. For my generation and older, you could probably remember a few of the reasons you knew his face. If you’re younger, maybe not. But you would still know his face.

I have all the respect in the world for actors who can make a full-time career of their art, in particular those like Gibson who never become household names but manage to be as successful as anyone. If you have a moment, check out his credits at IMDB. I guarantee you’ll be impressed.

If I were a little bit older, he would probably be best known to me as part of the motley bunch of comics on “Laugh In.” The three roles I most associate with Gibson, however, are a creepy guy he played on an old episode of “Wonder Woman,” the Nazi guy from “Blues Brothers,” and the voice of Wilbur the pig in “Charlotte’s Web.” He was great in everything he did.

Thanks for all the wonderful memories Mr. Gibson.

Oprah – interview with Whitney

Well after watching Monday’s show, I really didn’t learn anything new. We all knew Whitney
truly loved her husband, otherwise why would she have gone to lengths to forget about
her God given gift of singing. I was surprise about when is Whitney taking responsibility
for her actions in all this. I’m not taking up for Bobbie Brown, but it takes two to work or
fail in any relationship. Was love truly blind in this situation, or a need to be accepted for
who she really is. A fragile being in need of love. Not to say now her family didn’t love her
but we all have our definition of “what love is”. I’m happy for her that she is now reconnecting
with her family and especially her daughter. For moment she looked as though she was becoming
just as lost and her Mother. Hopefully this new beginning will give her a better understanding
of who she is, and what is it she wants to share with the world.

Fame brings very high joys, and sometimes emotional sorrows. It takes a very strong
individual to withstand “Gollywood”, as Whitney’s cousin Dionne Warwick calls it.
We all ask for certain things in life, especially success, but are we really prepared for the
outcome of that decision. Is it truly what we want, or a glorified fantasy.

Kanye West so-called Apology

Kanye later issued this apology on his website

“I’m sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom,” he wrote. “I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would’ve said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she’s in the bleachers! I’m in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment! Beyoncé’s video was the best of this decade!!!! I’m sorry to my fans if I let you guys down!!!! I’m sorry to my friends at MTV. I will apologize to Taylor 2mrw. Welcome to the real world!!!! Everybody wanna booooo me but I’m a fan of real pop culture!!! No disrespect but we watchin’ the show at the crib right now cause … well you know!!!! I’m still happy for Taylor!!!! Boooyaaawwww!!!! You are very very talented!!! I gave my awards to Outkast when they deserved it over me … That’s what it is!!!!!!! I’m not crazy y’all, i’m just real. Sorry for that!!! I really feel bad for Taylor and I’m sincerely sorry!!! Much respect!!!!!”

What do you think should happen to Kanye for his rude outburst?

Do you think he was well in his right to express his opinion?

What do you think about Beyonce allowing Taylor Swift to take up her time on stage?

An open letter to – Tyler Perry

Peter Kramer/APTyler Perry attends the premiere of Tyler Perry’s: Madea Goes to Jail in New York in February 2009.
text sizeAAASeptember 11, 2009 Dear Mr. Perry,

I appreciate your commitment to giving black folks jobs in front of and behind the camera. Your films are known for their humor, and they also have positive messages about self-worth, love and respect. For all of that, I thank you.

Web Resources
Jamilah Lemieux’s blogHowever, my feelings about your work are conflicted. The images of black people we see in your movies and two TV shows, Meet The Browns and House Of Payne, are not always fair. Now, you are the only person who seems to be able to get black shows on TV. But both your shows are marked by old stereotypes of buffoonish, emasculated black men and crass, sassy black women. I’d like to support your work, I really would — because I’d like to see people who look like me on TV. But I can’t let advertisers and networks think that these stereotypes are acceptable.

Your most famous character, Medea, is a trash-talking, pistol-waving grandmother played by none other than you. Through her, the country has laughed at one of the most important members of the black community: Mother Dear, the beloved matriarch. I just can’t quite get with seeing Mother Dear played by a 6-foot-3 man with prosthetic breasts flopping in the wind. Our mothers and grandmothers deserve much more than that. Heck, our fathers and grandfathers deserve more.

Mr. Perry, you have told the Hollywood “old guard” to kiss your backside, and I appreciate that, brother. But many black folks have expressed some of the very same attitudes about your work that white critics have.

Now, white filmmakers get chance after chance in Hollywood to try new things, no matter how many times they fail. We, however, have been fed the same images of ourselves over and over and over because they sell. But these images sell because there is nothing else.

Mr. Perry, you are in a position now where, if you were willing, you could completely revolutionize the world of black film. You could singlehandedly develop the next crop of Tyler Perrys, Spike Lees and Julie Dashes if you want to.

You have built an empire on a foundation of love and Christianity, Mr. Perry, but that is also mired with the worst black pathologies and stereotypes. I beg of you, stop dismissing the critics as haters and realize that black people need new stories and new storytellers.

We don’t need Medea anymore. I know you have more, because we are more and you are more. It’s obvious that your fans will be loyal to you and support you no matter what. So do right by your people. I think you love us enough to do just that.
