Three people were arrested after protesters threw eggs and shoes at Tony Blair when he arrived to sign copies of his best selling memoir at a bookshop in Dublin.
Some 200 activists clashed with police on the city’s main thoroughfare O’Connell street.
Security at the former’s British prime minister’s first signing of his autobiography had been tight due to opposition by an Irish nationalist group opposed to British control of Northern Ireland and by critics of Blair’s decision to join the war in Iraq.
No injuries were reported and the missiles did not hit Blair.

Tony Blair was pelted with shoes and eggs when he attended a book-signing in Dublin today. Lots of people might consider he was fortunate he didn’t get grenades hurled at him.

Which raises a mischievous question. Could America’s universities go the way of its car companies? On the face of it, this seems highly unlikely. Student enrolments are higher than ever this year, as Americans who cannot find jobs linger or return to education. Cambridge, Massachusetts, shows no outward sign of becoming Detroit. Yet there are serious questions about America’s ivory towers.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
