Aguero and Zabaleta both feature as Manchester City seals dramatic title win

Despite falling short of the title, Red Devils duo Patrice Evra and Paul Scholes are also included, with Everton’s Nikica Jelavic, Steven Pienaar and John Heitinga all in our XI

Manchester City duo Sergio Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta feature in our final TOTW this season after they both found their names on the scoresheet in Sunday’s dramatic 3-2 victory over QPR.

The right-back bagged Roberto Mancini’s side’s opening goal of the afternoon, and while the Hoops took a shock 2-1 lead, his Argentine compatriot capped a stunning comeback in stoppage time to seal City’s maiden Premier League title.

Paul Scholes and Patrice Evra are both included in our XI following Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, yet the three points were not enough to secure a 20th league championship for the Red Devils.

Black Cats goalkeeper Simon Mignolet makes his debut in our TOTW despite the defeat, with the Belgian pulling off a number of fine saves to ensure the deficit remained at just one goal.

Tottenham’s Younes Kaboul lines up in defense for the sixth time this season after Harry Redknapp’s side saw off Fulham 2-0 to finish in fourth place. Joining him is teammate Aaron Lennon, who features in our side for the first time this season after he assisted Jermain Defoe for Spurs’ second of the afternoon.

While the loss meant Martin Jol’s side was unable to overhaul Liverpool into eighth place in the table, Moussa Dembele’s exciting display will ensure he is high on a number of club’s transfer lists when the summer window opens, and the 24-year-old is also included.

Rounding off our TOTW are Everton trio Nikica Jelavic, Steven Pienaar and John Heitinga, who all found the back of the net in the Toffees’ 3-1 win over Newcastle at Goodison Park.

The on-loan South African opened the scoring for David Moyes’ men, while the ex-Rangers striker bagged his 10th goal since arriving at the club in January to double the lead – in turn keeping goalscoring Norwich City duo Simeon Jackson and Grant Holt out of the side.

Heitinga, whose long ball led to Jelavic’s goal before grabbing his side’s third of the afternoon, rounds off our TOTW at center-back.

Honorable mentions go to Arsenal’s Andre Santos, Canaries midfielder Jonny Howson and Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, with the Belgian striker impressing in his first league start for the west Londoners.

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt ‘misled Parliament’ over Rupert Murdoch’s BSkyB takeover bid

The Prime Minister said he believed the Leveson Inquiry, rather than a separate probe, is the right way to investigate the Government’s exchanges with News Corp as it is ‘far tougher than anything the civil service could arrange’.

Mr Cameron admitted discussing matters with Mr Murdoch’s son and top News Corp executive James Murdoch at a Christmas party at the Oxfordshire home of then News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks.

Asked whether he was embarrassed that he was even at the party, Mr Cameron said: ‘Clearly, after all that’s been written and said about it, yes of course one might do things differently.

Mr Cameron said he did not recall the exact details of his conversation with Mr Murdoch but that it concerned the recent controversy over Business Secretary Vince Cable’s comments that he had ‘declared war’ on News Corporation.

‘What I recall saying, although I can’t remember every detail of the conversation, is saying something like: clearly that was unacceptable, it was embarrassing for the Government, and to be clear from now on this whole issue would be dealt with impartially, properly, in the correct way, but obviously I had nothing to do with it, I recused myself from it,’ he said.

Mr Cameron admitted that he courted Murdoch newspapers in opposition, but said it was ‘no great mystery’ as he had tried to win over many media outlets.

‘The thing that people are asking is was there some big deal, some big agreement between me and Rupert Murdoch or James Murdoch that in return for support for the Conservative Party I would somehow help their business interests or allow this merger to go through,’ he said.

‘That is not true. Rupert Murdoch said it under oath at the Leveson Inquiry, James Murdoch said it under oath, I will say it under oath.

‘I did want the support of as many newspapers and television commentators for the Conservative Party because I wanted to take the country in a different direction.

‘When it comes to the Murdoch newspapers, I was trying to convince a set of newspapers with largely centre-right, conservative views anyway, that they would be better off with the Conservative Party running the country.

‘There is no great mystery here – that is what I was trying to do.’

Mr Cameron said it would be ‘wrong’ to sack Mr Hunt because his special adviser Adam Smith – who quit on Wednesday as the row grew – had been ‘too close’ to the Murdoch empire and ‘acted inappropriately’.
