Amazon’s insanely popular e-reader, Kindle, has been a little more than popular…it’s SOLD OUT! The item selling out the way it has is unheard of, but consumer experts saw it coming. They said that the base level Kindle was dropped in price because they were making way for a new Kindle. And lo and behold, we are on the heels of the new Kindle DX. This one has a hefty price of $379, that the consumers may not mind purchasing either.
The Kindle’s original price was nearly $400 when it hit the market, but it has sunk as low as $189. The newer model will find its customer as well. It is obvious that money is no object when it comes to the device, but when they tell you it’s available you better hop on it or become one of the newest owners of the older model when it floods eBay, just like those users that have to unload their iPhones for the iPhone 4
.
Sherrod said Thursday she plans to file a lawsuit against Andrew Breitbart, the conservative blogger who posted a video that was edited to make her appear racist.
Speaking Thursday at the National Association of Black Journalists convention, Sherrod said she would definitely sue over the video that took her remarks to a local NAACP group out of context. Sherrod said she had not received an apology from Breitbart and no longer wanted one. “He had to know that he was targeting me,” she said.
Breitbart had yet to respond at press time. In past interviews, he claimed to have posted the portion of the speech where she expresses reservations about helping a white farmer to prove that racism exists in the NAACP, which had just demanded that the tea party movement renounce any bigoted elements. The farmer came forward after Sherrod resigned, saying she ended up helping save his farm.
Vilsack and President Barack Obama later called Sherrod to apologize. Obama said Thursday that Sherrod “deserves better than what happened last week.”
Addressing the National Urban League this morning, he said the full story Sherrod was trying to tell “is exactly the kind of story we need to hear in America.” On ”The View” this morning, Obama pinned part of Sherrod’s hasty removal on a media culture that he said seeks out conflict and doesn’t always get the facts right. But he added, “A lot of people overreacted, including people in my administration.”
At the NABJ convention, Sherrod was asked what could be done to ensure accurate coverage as conservatives like Breitbart attack the NAACP and other liberal groups.

Sherrod, 62, responded that members of her generation who were in the civil rights movement “tried too much to shield that hurt and pain from younger people. We have to do a better job of helping those individuals who get these positions, in the media, in educational institutions, in the presidency, we have to make sure they understand the history so they can do a better job.”
She said Obama is one of those who need a history lesson.
“That’s why I invited him to southwest Georgia. I need to take him around and show him some of that history,” Sherrod said.
Sherrod said the description of the new job she has been offered in the office of advocacy and outreach was a “draft,” and she questioned whether any money had been budgeted for its programs.
“I have many, many questions before I can make a decision,” she said.
Despite her experience, Sherrod said she believes the country can heal its racial divisions – if people are willing to confront the issue.
“Young African-Americans, young whites, too, we’ve done such a job of trying to be mainstream that we push things under the rug that we need to talk about. And then we get to situations like this,” she said.
“I truly believe that we can come together in this country. But you don’t (come together) by not talking to each other. You don’t get there by pushing things under the rug.”
Sherrod said her faulty firing should not be blamed on all media.
Before the full video was released, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly said Sherrod should be fired, and others called her speech racist. O’Reilly later apologized.
“They had a chance to get the facts out, and they weren’t interested,” Sherrod said.
She said she declined to give Fox an interview because she believed they were not interested in pursuing the truth. “They would have twisted it,” she said.
House investigators today officially accused veteran New York Rep. Charles Rangel of 13 violations of congressional ethics standards, throwing a cloud over his political career and putting Democrats in a pickle throughout fall elections.
The allegations – which include failure to report rental income from vacation property in the Dominican Republic and to report more than $600,000 in assets on his congressional financial disclosure statements – came as lawyers for Rangel and the House ethics committee worked on a plea deal.
One was reached, sources tell the Associated Press, but Republicans indicated it was too late.
The deal between the lawyers will have little meaning if the committee members don’t approve it, and Republicans said at the proceeding they were insisting on going forward with a trial. The panel is evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans.
“Mr. Rangel was given multiple opportunities to settle this matter. Instead, he chose to move forward to the public trial phase,” said Rep. Jo Bonner of Alabama, the senior Republican on the ethics panel
Many Democrats had urged Rangel to settle the case to avoid the prospect of televised hearings right before November congressional elections that will determine which party controls Congress next year.
However, as Friday’s public airing of the charges drew nearer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi seem resigned to the case proceeding.
“The chips will have to fall where they may politically,” she told reporters. Pursuing ethics cases against House members is “a serious responsibility that we have,” she said.

A group of media and electronics companies will soon start testing a system that will let you watch films you buy wherever you are, regardless of formats and other technical hurdles. Like ATMs, your account would follow you, no matter what brand of machine you use.
The group has also come up with the name UltraViolet for the open standard it is creating, which it was unveiling on Tuesday.
The open standard, backed film studios including Warner Brothers and technology companies such as Microsoft, represents a challenge to owned formats from Apple and others. Those formats lock buyers of video content to limited numbers of devices, such as the iPad or Apple TV.
Backers of the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem hope to kick-start growth of digital film purchases, now just four per cent of all sales, by freeing consumers of format concerns.
That would mirror the way the use of ATMs exploded once all banks cooperated in processing transactions, said Mitch Singer, the chief technology officer for Sony Pictures Entertainment and president of the consortium, the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem.
The concept is to create a digital locker that stores tokens that are proofs of purchase of DVDs, Blu-ray discs and film downloads. When a consumer buys a film online or at a store, he can watch it anywhere else, including on any mobile device or TV set without the hassle of copying his personal files.
The UltraViolet brand is meant to evoke the platform’s invisible presence, and transcendence across numerous devices.
“It’s outside the visible spectrum, but it’s all around you and it’s ubiquitous,” Singer said.
Specifications for a proposed common file format will be released soon, and testing of the system with an unnamed retailer will begin by the end of the year, Singer said.
Although the consortium contains a broad swath of companies, it does not include Apple or The Walt Disney Company.
The devil’s in the details. Not only do states have different statutes of limitations for different debts, but two states may treat the same debts differently. A credit card debt might be considered an open-ended account in one state and a written contract in another. The only way to know for sure is to check your state laws or consult an attorney.
You can inadvertently restart the clock. Generally, the statute of limitations starts ticking from the “date of last activity” on the accounts, said Los Angeles bankruptcy attorney Scott Bovitz. (If the account is still listed in your credit reports, the date of last activity should be noted there.) On a credit card debt, that could be the last payment you made or the last purchase you charged. But in some states, making a payment on an old debt, agreeing to an extended repayment plan or even acknowledging that the debt is yours can extend the statute of limitations or restart the clock.
A creditor may still sue you after the statute of limitations has run out. Suing or threatening to sue you after the statute of limitations has run out violates the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. To prevent the creditor from winning a judgment against you, you’ll need to show up in court and point out that the statute has expired.
The creditor may try to pick a better venue. If you sign a credit contract and move to a state with different limits, the creditor may try to sue you in the state that has the longer statute. If that’s not the state in which you now live, you should protest, because generally the state where you reside is the one whose statutes should apply.
Debts can still exist even if the creditor can’t sue. Some people erroneously believe that debts are erased after the statute of limitations has run out. Although the creditor’s ability to sue you has been curtailed, it can still try other methods to persuade you to pay, including calls and letters. The debt can also be sold to another collector that can renew efforts to get you to pay. A legitimate debt is truly gone only when it’s paid or erased in bankruptcy court.
Collectors can’t legally restart the seven-year clock by “re-aging” the debt (giving it a new delinquency date) or by selling it to another agency. The Federal Trade Commission shut down one large collection agency, Capital Acquisitions and Management, after charging the company repeatedly had re-aged debts in its attempts to collect.
In truth, there is nothing evil, only objective phenomena and experience.
If you want guarantees in life, then you don’t want life. You want rehearsals for a script that’s already been written. Life by its nature cannot have guarantees, or its whole purpose is thwarted.

Yes the Democrats overwhelmingly passed it. It has been years since 911 and the folks that involved
their lives to save whomever are now greatly disturbed with health concerns – OK who knew. What the
outcome effects would be. These folks Fire Dept, Police Dept, Medics put there lives on the line to help.
And this is how Congress rewards them for a job well done to the best of their ability – well damn Congress.
And you wonder why – folks are voting for anybody other than the incumbent to stand for there City,
or State reps. How dare you put these folks on the back burner. Do you have no shame or guilt what you
are doing to these folks. Understandably the economics in this country are steep, why do you think that
President Obama wanted the Health Care Reform bill past. Not just for future clients, but present ones in
need as well. Congress when are you going to get off your azz and stop throwing a rock and then hiding
your hand. You took your offices with a “vow” to pledge and help your constituents of your state and
others. Do not turn a blind eye to the needs of Americans, families are involved here and future generations.
