RETIRED….

RETIRED/BORED HUSBAND

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target.

Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women – she loves to browse.

Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target:

Dear Mrs. Harris,

Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Harris, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras:

1. June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people’s carts when they weren’t looking.

2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women’s restroom.

4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, ‘Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away’. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.

5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway

6. August 14: Moved a ‘CAUTION – WET FLOOR’ sign to a carpeted area.

7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he’d invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.

8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, ‘Why can’t you people just leave me alone?’ EMTs were called.

9.. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

11. October 3: Darted around the Store suspiciously while loudly humming the ‘ Mission Impossible’ theme.

12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his ‘Madonna look’ by using different sizes of funnels on his chest.

13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, he yelled ‘PICK ME! PICK ME!’

14. October 22: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a
fetal position and screamed ‘OHNO! IT’S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!’

15. Took a box of condoms to the check out clerk and asked where the fitting room was?

And last, but not least:

16. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, ‘Hey! There’s no toilet paper in here.’

One of the clerks passed out.

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND AND KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED!

Using Astrology to Pick Your Wedding Date!

Sure, the weather’s getting warmer and you can have an outside gazebo wedding, but the majority of June falls under the sign of Gemini – a mentally based air sign not known for fullness of feeling and the hot diggity dog of what love is supposed to be. So, when should a person get married according to the stars? Here’s how to use astrology to pick the best wedding date.

A few general rules apply on how to pick your wedding date based on the stars.

First, avoid Mercury retrograde at all costs. These intervals of Mercury’s apparent wrong way street pop up three or four times a year for roughly three weeks at a time. These Mercury eras may mar wedding plans in a plethora of ways from the wrong names frosting the wedding cake to a traffic jam preventing the minister from getting to the church on time.

Pick a Sun sign that matches why you’re getting married. If you want love and romance and good gooey feelings, you could consider Libra (but it can be a bit aloof and abstract) but certainly the water signs: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. If you want someone with whom you have banter and the mental stimulation that can carry a relationship well after the honeymoon is over, give Sagittarius a look as well as the air signs: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, which all love mental exchanges.

Should it be stability you’re after, you could go with security-based Cancer for a summer wedding (and it gives you the last week of June) or the resourceful earth signs: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. Of course, weddings performed during earth signs might require a pre-nuptial document to carve details in stone. Finally, if you want adventure, go for it-ness and a likely work out partner, get married while enjoying the spark of the one of the fire signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

The Moon sign of the day of marriage offers a huge consideration as well. Using the sign guide in the Sun sign paragraph above, apply those ideas remembering that the Moon offers the emotional tone and sets the standard for how the partners will support, honor, adore and care for the other.

Since Venus classically represents the female and Mars bears the masculine archetype, these two planets crave a happy place with respect to each other. Here’s a tricky wicket to navigate with Venus and Mars: traditionally astrology seeks relationships of ease between planets and signs. That’s just nifty for a long walk and sitting on the porch watching sunset. But to get the… you know… hot steamy stuff percolating to the brink of spontaneous combustion, you’ll need a tense and friction-based aspect between the ‘her’ planet and the ‘him’ planet (the same principle applies to same sex unions, by the way). Bear in mind that such a tense pattern might get a little testy later on in matters of money and emotional need.

It’s always best to contact a professional astrologer to assist you with the best wedding date. While there is no ‘perfect’ date, your astrologer can set you up with a horoscope that supports your relationship. Before contacting your astrologer, check with your intended venue for available dates. No point in getting chart forecasts for unavailable dates.

One final point to keep in mind, an astrologer may recommend an impossible wedding date, such as Wednesday at 11:37 P.M. Vows can be privately, legally and ceremonially exchanged at such a time, with all the hoopla and regalia at an ‘unofficial’ time convenient for family, relatives and venue to occur later.

The Moon & Moon signs
Perhaps the major drawback of popular astrology – and another reason for its questionable status – is that it fails to recognize the importance of the moon. The moon symbolizes in astrology pretty much all of the self that isn’t covered by the sun. Astrologers say the moon is the feminine or “passive” part of the psyche, and a more responsive energy compared to the sun. While misleading, it is true that the astrological symbolism of the moon is similar to traditional images of femininity. The moon describes our needs, and how we relate emotionally. It measures the level of, and more so, colors the expression of an individual’s general interaction with others. How do you get along? How do you relate? What instinctive talents, fears and resources do you have? How warm and empathetic are you? Much of the answer can be found in the sign, house position and aspects of the moon. The zodiac-sign position of the moon reveals the general character of this emotional, responsive energy. Have a look at yours below.

http://www.astroroom.com/aries5.gifMoon in Aries

This is a very spontaneous moon. Energy levels are high and Arian moons interact with uncommon immediacy and enthusiasm. More so than in the case of sun in Aries, there may be an issue of hot temper and loss of self-control. These people have the spirit of the fighter running in their blood, and a natural way of living the ideals of honesty and fair play. In a plainly quixotic way, they act before thinking and often before even feeling anything – taking action is a primal response to external stimulus. These people display a fascinating mix of emotionality and tough independence; often easily hurt and close to tears but other times they seem capable of drilling a hole through the earth.
Aries moon’s sense of independence is not easily separated from what is primarily a radical unwillingness to take advice and a quite profound obstinacy. The Aries demand strong and visible, quick responses from others, and their heated passion needs an equally charged emotional reaction from the partner. They have an emotional need for expression, activity and passion. An obvious danger for lunar Arians is the tendency to always go for what they can’t have, mostly for the sake of the hunt and the struggle. It is hence almost ridiculous how easily they retort to defensiveness and become indignant.

http://www.astroroom.com/taurus5.gifMoon in Taurus

This is considered an “exalted” position for the moon in traditional astrology, and people with Taurus moons tend to be good-natured, with a laidback disposition, strong constitution and healthy nerves. They respond slowly and act with consideration and decisiveness. They are physically and psychologically enduring and firm, with a deep inner need for stability and security. Taurus moon natives have acute senses that are powerfully affected by the immediate environment. These people are usually great lovers of nature and the earth, often ecologically aware and concerned about the welfare of all organisms.
It may not be the most exciting placement of the moon – these are usually not overtly dramatic, electrified personalities. But there is more than often a quiet but noticeable artistic strain running in their blood, as well as an earthy, seductive charm that eases its surroundings. You wont be able to persuade a taurus moon: their tremendous stubbornness is legendary. They’ll listen and smile kindly, but will not rock, unless their common sense quite obviously tells them they’re wrong. Conservatism is often dominant in these personalities, and they have little understanding for changes that seem unmotivated.

http://www.astroroom.com/gemini5.gifMoon in Gemini

With acute, lightning quick responses, these moons assess and categorize ideas and situations instantly. However, they rarely act upon all their impressions, since a Gemini moon creates a typically mental being, without much desire to intrude upon the actual physical world of being. These people have a knack for saying the right thing, a fine analytical intelligence and an inborn need to communicate, if not only by words. Sometimes they communicate with themselves, for this type is more than most aware of the dualism of the mind. Such an airy, Peter-Pan like heart have trouble finding an emotional centre, a reason being that often there is none. While socially charming and humorous, they still feel lost and alienated.
Since the Gemini moons are so fond of objectifying their feelings and emotions, they tend to make their inner nature think, and emotions constantly take the form of words and ideas. If this is depraved or just practical depends on the level of honesty and, bottom line, whether there actually exists any deeper feelings that are thwarted. Perhaps not – sometimes these people simply feel like the lack that emotional component. At least they always feel the divide between emotional and rational self to be a considerable one. Knowledge and studies remain a vital need all their life.

http://www.astroroom.com/cancer5.gifMoon in Cancer

At its home in Cancer, the moon becomes deeply rooted and receptive. The symbolical archetype for moon in Cancer is “the great mother”, or the tide, the fluid emotions of femininity. Also in male horoscopes, moon in Cancer tends to increase the intuitive knack for and willingness to care, and to feel at one with the collective human soul. There is depth and power to the emotions of those with moon in Cancer, and they have somewhat of nature’s spirit within them, indeed much like a wolf howling at the moon. These people have to watch not to get too caught up in their own private sphere of feeling, and try to fight their inclination to self-pity.
Cancer moons tend to have a sensitivity bordering on the psychic, able to soak up influences from their surroundings. They become very attached to people, memories and things. It’s important to keep their integrity and emotional centre from fluctuating, since they are in great need of stability and security. Their genuine tenderness is hampered somewhat by their moodiness, since they’re so subjective. Actually they feel no great respect for rationality. The strengths of this position are intuitive insight, “personality”, emotional depth and a fabulous memory, while the more difficult traits tend to be stubbornness, a sometime narrow-mindedness, over-sensitivity and moodiness.

http://www.astroroom.com/leo5.gifMoon in Leo

Moon in Leo shows the classic lover of life, living out life fully and utterly, the drama-queen and passionate, demanding lover. Perhaps more than sun in Leo, here we have the spirit of the stage/theatre personality, bursting with natural flair for public drama and creation. Exhibiting and recreating their ego is a deeply rooted need for these people, and constantly having to mute their impulses will make them sick and depressed. They need light and they need sun – moon in Leo literally becomes the image of the “burning heart”. Though their expressiveness and craving for attention isn’t always obvious, and they aren’t always extroverts (Sun and Ascendant among other things modify), it sure is in there somewhere.
These people often behave like grown children, yet they have great amounts of love, warmth and generosity, and often a faculty for spotting talent in others. And they’re the ideal party-fixers, always gracious and noble hosts. Self-confidence is often stronger than apparent, and the pride of these people might create the impression of snobbishness, which indeed isn’t too far off. Pride and honor, a “treat me with respect” syndrome. Ignore a lunar Leo, and they’ll be steaming with humiliation and indignation.

http://www.astroroom.com/virgo5.gifMoon in Virgo

Humility usually runs high in Virgo moon individuals. They are unassuming and feel no overwhelming desire to be leaders or great personalities. However, irrespective of what they believe or wish for themselves, they are often quite unique and different in their own way. Their instinctive knack for effectiveness and for organizing everyday affairs is a great asset in personal interrelations. These people are often true purists, a word that can be applied in many senses. Lunar Virgos could be fanatics within any area, completely focused on perfecting some aspect of the activity in question. They may be health freaks, or grave phobics (cleanliness).
Some Virgo moons shy away from expressing themselves emotionally and physically in public, and sometimes they condemn “impure” sexuality. But they could also be completely hedonistic and amorous. Usually they are quite Spartan and don’t demand much out of life – there is a bit of
Tao running in their veins. However, moon in Virgo isn’t a very speculative or metaphysical, out-of-this-world placement. They need facts and tangible evidence (and are great with them, to the annoyance of some). They have great memories and faculty for categorizing and reasoning. Youthful at heart through their life, they have a way with young people and tend to be great guides and advisors.

Moon in Libra
This is probably the most diplomatic moon placement and one of those most intensely aware of the surrounding world in terms of other people, opinions and behaviour. Lunar Librans try hard to be unbiased and impartial, but they aren’t always successful because of their own essential instability and their easily hurt feelings. They are great with people but can be utterly manipulative, smoothing everything to the extent that others are blinded as to how they’ve been fooled. The Libra moon’s list of arguments is always impressive, and they constantly wish to reorganize any disruption around them. Harshness and rude, egotistic behaviour disturbs them more than anything.
In any way, a Libra moon brings true desire for peace and harmony, much spontaneous sympathy and an unusual need for stimulating partnerships with loved ones and friends. These people need a human mirror, someone to always reflect their moods and opinions, and they have trouble feeling whole when alone, in any kind situation. Their greatest fear is the idea of drawn-out loneliness. While sun-Librans can be openly egoistic and at times coldly impersonal, this is more seldom the case with moon-Librans. Intellectual and avid seekers of wisdom and enlightenment, they have a faculty for objective thinking when it doesn’t concern themselves.

http://www.astroroom.com/scorpio5.gifMoon in Scorpio

With the moon in Scorpio, people find it hard to take any matter that concerns the personal self lightly. Because they are so in touch with their feelings, and from an internal perspective overwhelmed by them, it is not easy for a Scorpio moon to differentiate between the emotional and cognitive parts of themselves. On the other hand, these people are often the unsung masters of pure self-control. Scorpio moons care a lot about their own feelings, but they preserve themselves to maintain an emotional advantage over others. The Scorpio moon has a deeply rooted need for intense emotional experience, and may seek crises for the sake of potential transformation and rebirth.
Traditionally, Scorpio is seen as a hard position for the moon, but there is much emotional strength, endurance, frankness and whole-heartedness with this position. Not to mention great passion and loving devotion. These people are very intuitive, and can inject hope in and really help the ones they have chosen as worthy friends and associates. Being biased and guarded, they do not stretch their tentacles widely and generously, but the ones who are touched by them will benefit. The moon is an emotional planet and therefore quite at home in an emotional sign like Scorpio, although the introvert intensity and subjectiveness may create certain issues and hardships.

http://www.astroroom.com/sagittarius5.gifMoon in Sagittarius

The moon placed in Sagittarius produces a strain of fanatism, or at least didacticism, for at the core these people are pilgrims and imperialists of the mind. This tendency is typically masked in the form of broad cultivation and a liberal humanistic vision. Lunar Sagittarians are enthusiastic souls, and they wish everyone were possessed of equally burning and high-flying ideals. Indeed they are eager to help and inject passion in people the meet, and they are very avid students of everything, with a vast common knowledge. The dilemma for these people often concerns the need for personal freedom. They aren’t too fond of routine and conventional systems.
Sagittarius moons are normally easy to get along with – they appreciate all kinds of people, and tend to be easygoing and gregarious, always in the mood for a good joke. Their sunny personality typically conceals a fear of limiting commitment and an inability to fathom the profound and demanding aspects of emotional human nature. Like moon-Aquarians, moon-Sagittarians may like everybody, and be quite in love with humanity, yet find it difficult to relate to people on a personal level. Moon in Sagittarius indicates elevated goals, but quite little sense of reality. They have an easily aroused and enthusiastic, but hardly endurant, emotional nature.

http://www.astroroom.com/capricorn5.gifMoon in Capricorn

Moon in Capricorn is traditionally considered a difficult placement, since Capricorn is the opposite sign of Cancer, naturally ruled by the moon. The hard edges and straight lines of Capricorn may indeed be a somewhat awkward place for the fluid, mysterious and sentimental moon. But most people with moon in Capricorn are sensitive people. Their problem is how to integrate this aspect of the personality without losing “face” – and so they may behave distant and as if they were void of feeling. Like the mothering of Cancer moons, Capricorn moons experience a father-complex and wants to father the world. They try to make up for in responsibility what they lack in spontaneous ability to express feelings. But these people never let you down – they are solid as rocks.
Capricorn moons rarely loose their cool and are sometimes considered reserved. Their ability not to loose their head is a great asset in comedy, and it’s enlightening to discover the number of talented comedians with strong Capricornian influences. Furthermore, lunar Capricorns are quite focused on rooting themselves and creating some kind of family bonds from early on, since security is of great importance to their well-being. However professionally independent the may be (and usually are) – when it comes to domestic life they are conservative and traditional.

http://www.astroroom.com/aquarius5.gifMoon in Aquarius

This moon placement produces a rather unconventional emotional nature, one where the need to be considered special and unique may be greater than any wish to be smothered by physical or emotional expressions of love from someone special. This is the kind person who seldom is burdened by heavy emotions or irresistible desires – instead, the Aquarian moon tries to integrate her feelings as part of the intellectual whole of the personality, seeing them as just another phenomena to observe. While their emotional detachment makes them able to behold quite impartially what they experience from the inside, other people may think of them as cold or in some kind of denial.
In truth, moon in Aquarius doesn’t lack emotions, but their feeling-nature is simply less personal. Their concerns are directed more towards collective human interplay, a cosmic friendliness or sympathy. They are great observers of human nature, deeply fascinated by the workings of the mind. Lunar Aquarians can be the paradigm example of loners at heart. While they appreciate and empathize with everybody and are in turn liked by most, they still feel isolated and incapable of forming deeper bonds with people. These people can sometimes display erratic or “perverse” whims of behaviour, and their capacity for self-knowledge isn’t nearly as good as their intuitive grasp on the rest of humanity.

http://www.astroroom.com/pisces5.gifMoon in Pisces

The Pisces moon tells of an extremely impressionable individual, in touch with absolutely everything. There is no simple way of separating inner from outer for these people and no limits for their receptive empathy. This Moon cannot stand brutality and is especially sensitive to the welfare of defenseless animals and other weak creatures. These people can understand anything, as long as it’s not too rational or coldly logical. Their imagination is colorful and boundless, and they have a tendency to daydream and be absent minded, although they might not even be aware of it themselves. You will have to search long and hard for a Pisces moon that isn’t one of the good sorts, and most would prefer to hurt themselves rather than a complete stranger.
Having this said, people with the Moon in Pisces can sometimes parasite on other people and find subtle ways of burdening the conscience of others (even though none is more prone to feel guilty than the Pisces moon herself). As true chameleons, these people can assimilate anywhere, and their openness makes them equally believable as complete innocents or world-weary men/women of the world. They are natural and fabulously nuanced actors. While they may seem breakable as glass, they are survivors, capable of being reborn from out of the most hopeless situations, like the vast, boundless ocean. They have to work with their ultra-sensitivity and try to be more thick-skinned. These people need solitude and quiet to regain balance.

Choosing to Believe in the Unlimited Love and Blessings of Spirit by DL Zeta

Thank you for this posting.

At a time when intentions manifest at warp speed and our everyTesting the Beliefs you Hold

There are some simple tests you can apply to your beliefs. One way to
tell if you have beliefs that don’t serve you is to hold a belief in
awareness and ask yourself if the belief empowers you to reach the
highest and best in the universe or does it bind you to dense realities
that limit and disempower you? Pay attention to your feeling state when
you focus on the realities your beliefs create. Do you feel angry or
agitated or do you feel happy and at peace?

Here is another test. Imagine you’re holding a belief in your hand. Does
it feel heavy and leaden or do you feel yourself lift off the ground as
you hold it? What brings you down is a belief you can let go of. What
lifts you up is a belief that holds the power to lift you to your
highest potentials.

Everyone Deserves Love

One reason some hold disempowering beliefs is that they feel they don’t
deserve to be loved and empowered. Unfortunately this is a core belief
that can disable a lot of empowering beliefs. The solution to this is
simple: adopt the belief that each person, as a spark of spirit, is
deserving of the best the universe has to offer. Each person inherently
deserves unconditional love and the blessings of the universe. So long
as you sincerely believe good things are the birthright of every person,
you’ll be able to extend this belief to yourself as well. When you
believe you deserve the best the universe has to offer, each day becomes
a joyful journey along timelines where you experience ever expanding
realms of love and bliss.
expression reflects our inner world with perfect transparency, it is a
good time to visit the beliefs that determine the shape and form of the
realities we manifest. Our beliefs narrow or expand our field of
potentials and determine the timelines we will move along. As we move
further into the new time, the power of our beliefs becomes more
profound than ever before.

Beliefs are filters we place on reality. Everyone holds beliefs about
themselves, about others, the nature of reality and the universe. Some
beliefs empower us while others disempower us. The good news is that
it’s just as easy to hold an empowering belief as it is to hold a
disempowering one. It’s just as easy to believe in a world that radiates
the unlimited love and blessings of spirit as it is to believe in a
world where pain, suffering and struggle are our fate.

Shining the Light of Awareness on Beliefs

You can examine your beliefs to see if you hold any that are holding you
down. For a time you may choose to become a detective of your life to
shine the light of your awareness on your beliefs. Ask yourself what you
believe about your potentials and your love-ability. Ask yourself what
you believe you deserve.

It is also helpful to ask yourself how you see others and the world
around you. Do you believe others love and support you, or do you
believe others use you toward their own ends and abandon you when you
need them most? Do you believe the saying that ‘no good deed goes
unpunished’ or do you believe the good you do returns to you tenfold?

Do you believe in the divine wisdom of the universe or do you believe
you are a hapless pawn in the hands of a hostile and punishing god? Are
you a victim or an empowered being who creates your own realities? The
identities you hold offer important clues to your beliefs.

Your Beliefs are Real and True for You

Any belief you hold is real and true for you. If you believe you’re
unloved, you will live your life as if this is true. If you believe
you’re loved for the unique qualities you possess as a human being, you
will feel loved and you will live your life accordingly. When you feel
loved you will love. When you love, you open the door for more love to
flow into your life.

Testing the Beliefs you Hold

Arizona’s illegal-immigration law heads to Supreme Court. Will justices strike it down?

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed the country’s toughest illegal-immigration bill into law two years ago, setting off a long legal battle with the Obama administration and inspiring half a dozen states to emulate Arizona and pass similar laws. On Wednesday, the federal government and Arizona will face off at the Supreme Court, where Justice Department lawyers will try to convince the court that the law is an unconstitutional invasion into the federal government’s turf.

A federal judge blocked four major aspects of the law before they ever went into effect, including the provision that local police officers check the immigration status of people during stops if they have reason to suspect they lack legal status. Provisions making it a state crime for illegal immigrants to seek work, or for any immigrant to fail to carry immigration papers, were also blocked. Last year, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court’s decision and shot down most of the law.

Although public opinion polls showed that most Americans supported the law’s provisions after it passed, the minority opposition was passionate, and it set off a national debate about illegal immigration that has permeated the presidential elections. Opponents argued that the law would encourage racial profiling and branded Arizona the “show me your papers” state. More than 100 different parties, including former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and dozens of states, have filed friend-of-the-court briefs weighing in on the law.

Three interesting twists are likely to make this case even more high-profile—and political—than it already has been. First of all, Mitt Romney and other Republican candidates for the presidency have blasted the Obama administration for suing Arizona in the first place, using it as a way to paint the president as soft on illegal immigration and intrusive on states’ rights. Secondly, a familiar face will represent Arizona’s case: Paul Clement, the lawyer who argued against Obama’s health care law before the Supreme Court earlier this month, will once again take center stage. Lastly, Justice Elena Kagan has recused herself from the case because she was solicitor general when the government first filed suit against Arizona. That means the court could theoretically split 4-4 in its decision. If this happens, the 9th Circuit decision stands and the law will remain blocked. But that outcome would give little guidance to states not in the 9th Circuit that have passed or want to pass laws similar to Arizona’s, and would leave unsettled the question of how far states can go in combating illegal immigration.

Wal-Mart Caught In Massive Bribery Scandal That Goes All The Way To The Top

If true, the allegations are a huge black eye for the global retailing leader, which prides itself on its reputation for integrity and transparency.

So far, Wal-Mart hasn’t denied the allegations. Rather, it says it is once again investigating them—the way it did several years ago, before it shoved them under the rug.

According to David Barstow of The New York Times, who reported the story, the bribes were directed by the man who went on to become vice-chairman and the head of Wal-Mart’s U.S. division, Eduardo Castro-Wright. At the time, Castro-Wright was head of the company’s Mexico unit, and he was praised and promoted for the astonishing growth he delivered there—growth that the NYT says was directly the result of the bribes.

Wal-Mart’s investigation of the bribery story, meanwhile, was in part overseen by the head of Wal-Mart International at the time, Michael Duke. Duke has since been promoted to CEO of Wal-Mart.

The first reaction of many upon hearing the Mexico bribery story is “So what—it’s Mexico—that’s the way things are done in Mexico.”

That may often be true, but as a defense of Wal-Mart’s actions, it overlooks several key points.

First, Wal-Mart clearly didn’t think it could defend its actions by saying “this is the way things are done in Mexico.” If it had thought it could justify its actions this way, it already would have.

Second, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act makes it illegal to bribe officials in countries in which American companies do business, which is what Wal-Mart is accused of doing here.

Third, the bribes involved internal accounting fraud, which Wal-Mart couldn’t condone under any circumstances.

Fourth, it’s preposterous to think that a company as large and influential as Wal-Mart could take a position that it’s fine to ignore local laws to meet its own growth targets.

So the allegations are a huge deal, regardless how business is generally conducted in Mexico. And, given the current positions of Eduardo Castro-Wright and Michael Duke, they extend right to the top of the company.

If the allegations are true, Wal-Mart needs to apologize, pay whatever fines are required, and then fire both men—Castro-Wright because he oversaw the bribes, and Duke because he knew about them and didn’t do anything. This scandal is far too big for the company to just sweep under the rug.

William Balfour is on trail for the deaths of Hudson’s mother (Darnell Donerson), brother (Jason Hudson) and seven-year old nephew (Julian King). Balfour, 30, faces a maximum life sentence. Sunday’s Show – “Investigating Someone Your Dating”?

Call in today for a lively discussion.  4pm PST or 7pm EST, 646-727-2914

Are YOU sure about the person your dating?  Questions arises before taking it to the next level, committment, engagement, marriage, children whatever, do you really know that person?

Criminal background, credit check, health issues, child support, still married but separated, uh!?

Would you “investigate” a person your dating?

Don’t become involved with men or women who you know are married. This should be obvious, but there are all kinds of ways for married people to explain their situation. For example, a man may tell you that he’s separated from his wife, or a woman may say that the divorce is almostfinal. Almost doesn’t count. Inviting these people into your life is like inviting heartbreak-and possibly bodily injury.

Trust your instincts. If you have a feeling that something is wrong, don’t ignore it. Where there is smoke, there is usually fire.

  • 3

Watch for obvious signs. OK, the wedding ring should clear up your doubts right away. Assuming the person is smart enough to take his or her ring off, though, there may still be a tan line on the ring finger. What about the pictures of that woman in his wallet or the photo of that man on her desk? Obvious clues should raise legitimate concerns, and you should ask about them and maybe do some investigating.

Consider whether your meetings with the person are strange in any way. If the person won’t give you his or her phone number, but rather insists only on calling you, that should be a red light. The same can be said if they’ll only give you their cell phone or work number. If your meetings always have to be prearranged and have strict time frames, that’s another bad sign. When you go out, do you always have to go someplace far away (another town or neighborhood, for example), or does the person always want to stay in? That should set off an alarm. Have you ever seen his or her house, or does the person always want to go to your house? Do you even know where he or she lives? In a normal dating relationship, you shouldn’t have these constraints, so if you do, there’s probably something wrong.

Watch for strange behavior while on dates. If your date’s cell phone rings at the restaurant and he or she has to urgently flee your table to answer it, you may be tempted to wonder why. Give in to that temptation. It could be an important work call, but then again, it could be his or her spouse, and the latter possibility becomes increasingly plausible if it seems to happen time and time again. You also should think it strange if he or she sees someone and tries to avoid them.

Watch his or her reaction when you talk about family or past relationships. Usually these things come up in the course of conversation, but if you’re suspicious, you may want to tactfully bring them up. If the person seems uncomfortable talking about such subjects, or if their body language indicates that they may be lying, your suspicions may be warranted.

Your date may give you strange or suspicious reasons for not wanting to go to certain places. Consider this a red flag because they may be avoiding these areas so they aren’t seen by anyone they know that could tell their spouse about what’s going on.

Make sure you meet the person’s friends. At some point, usually early, in a relationship, you should probably have occasion to meet some of the person’s friends. If you don’t, he or she may be hiding you from them. The same could be true if you meet one or two of the person’s friends, but only those one or two every time.

Make sure you’re satisfied with the answers to your questions. If you ask the person about something strange that’s happening, make sure you believe what he or she says. If you have lingering doubts, it may be time to end the relationship or at least to do a little investigating. Telling lies isn’t a big deal for someone who is cheating on his or her spouse, so don’t be blinded by love into accepting whatever answer you’re given.

Drive by his or her house or stop by unexpectedly. This assumes you know where the person lives, and it also assumes that you believe you have reason to be suspicious. Usually a visit to the house will quickly tell you if the person is married.

    • Do some sleuthing. A simple internet search for the person’s name may turn up some interesting information, such as photos of him and his wife at a party or their names appearing together on a club’s membership roster. If you want to get a little bit more involved, you can do a public records search and look for things like joint home ownership. A person’s car can also provide you some clues. Does the registration in the glove box list two names, for example, or somebody else’s name? Is their lipstick in your man’s car?

Hire a pro. Relationships are built on trust, and it’s hard to remain trustworthy yourself when you’re hiring a private investigator, but if you really need answers it may be the way to go.

TIPS -

  • Don’t rush to judgment. Maybe he says he has to go home early. It’s possible he’s going home to his wife, but it’s also possible that he simply has to work early in the morning. Maybe you overhear her say “I love you” to a man on the phone. Could be her husband, but it might also be her father. Don’t be afraid to ask the person if something is suspicious, but do it tactfully. If you still have your doubts, look into it, but if you care about the person, don’t just assume you know what’s going on.
  • If you feel as though there is an imbalance in the relationship, like you care about making things work more than the other person does, it could be because the other person is secure in his or her marriage and is just using you for fun. There are, of course, many other reasons why you could feel as though you’re more vulnerable than the person you’re dating, but it’s something to think about. You also might want to consider whether you want that kind of relationship at all, regardless of whether the person is married or single.
