Andrew Young Docu-Debut

Although it wasn’t too glamorous, the evening was sure pumped with star power at Tuesday night’s screening of Andrew Young’s documentary “Change in the Wind.”

Atlantamagazine.com reports that the film chronicles the secret correspondence between Gone with the Wind author Margaret Mitchell and Morehouse College president Benjamin Mays, and the unlikely friendship that developed between the Civil Rights crusading educator and the author of the novel glorifying the Old South and eventually led to Mitchell’s decision to (secretly again) sponsor Morehouse medical students.

Atlanta Daily World publisher Alexis Scott and other big timers perused the lobby filled with artifacts from the University of Georgia. Other big wigs who attended include Kasim Reed, broadcast journalist, Margaret Mitchell House & Museum founder Mary Rose Taylor, Jasmine Guy.

Atlanta’s Section 8 Madness

You know the economy is bad when thousands of folks trample over each other for Section 8 housing.

Over 30,000 Georgia residents rushed into an Atlanta parking lot on Thursday. It was so bad that people were fighting folks, kids got kicked, and police was beatin’ some tail.

People had been waiting in line for days, however, only 13,000 applications were handed out, but the kicker that only 455 families will receive assistance.

“The situation in East Point highlights how bad the situation really is,” said Dennis Williams, Assistant Commissioner for Rental Assistance in Georgia’s Department of Community Affairs. “There’s never enough to go around,” he said. “There’s always more need than vouchers.”
Williams says there are 59,000 Section 8 vouchers in Georgia allotted by the federal government, 50,000 of them for metro Atlanta.

Mr. Obama, umm… I think it’s time you do something for your people. I’m not just talking about Black folks, but for the people who were sucker in… I mean believed in your promises. Get it together and make something happen.

The show is funny because only one of the ladies is married. The other women are divorced or ex-jumpoffs/girlfriends/side jawns….anywho… Shaq sees his ex-wife’s show as televised revenge. For years, Shaq cheated on Shaunie, and now, he is getting his lawyers after her. In other Shaunie news, the mother of five is dating 23-year old Model Marlon Yates. Shaq is not happy about this either. He’s been leaking stories about his ex-wife. Telling anyone who’ll listen how she used to be married to one of his business partners, but dumped that husband to hook up with him. Hmmmmmmmm!

Shaq Not Handling Divorce Well: Threatening Shaunie’s New Boyfriend. It looks like Shaquille O’Neal is not taking his divorce from Shaunie O’Neal like a man and moving on. According to documents obtained by TMZ, Shaq ordered their son to deliver death threats to her new boyfriend Marion Yates. Here’s what TMZ is reporting:

Shaunie O’Neal’s lawyers just fired off a letter to Shaq’s people, claiming the bball star “interrogated” the couple’s children to tell him everything they knew about her new man … “to the point that they felt intimidated and scared of him.” Shaunie also claims Shaq told their 6-year-old son to tell her boyfriend that Shaq “is going to kill him” — and that Shaq even screamed at the kid and said, “Say it now! My daddy is going to kill you!” Shaunie’s lawyers are demanding Shaq halt “further inappropriate discussions” with their children — which is an alleged violation of the non-disparagement provision of their divorce judgment.

TMZ says they’ve asked asked Shaq’s attorney for a comment, but at EUR press time he hadn’t gotten back to them.
