HP asked a court on Tuesday to block Hurd, HP’s former CEO, from joining Oracle, saying his hiring by the rival technology firm puts HP’s trade secrets “in peril.”
Oracle Corp CEO Larry Ellison fired back, calling the lawsuit “vindictive” and saying HP’s board is making it “virtually impossible” for the two companies to partner together.
Cathie Lesjak, who became HP’s interim CEO after Hurd was forced out on Aug. 6 over expense account irregularities, said on Wednesday at the Citigroup Global Technology Conference that Ellison’s comments “strained” the relationship a bit.
But she added: “At the end of the day, business will prevail and, ultimately, we will go back to being good partners, and competitors where we’ve been competitors.
“I believe that HP is important to Oracle and Oracle is an important partner of ours.”
HP shares fell 3.6 percent to $38.48 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange, while Oracle shares fell 1 percent to $24.01 on the Nasdaq.
It seems that the chairman and CEO of OneUnited, the bank at the center of the ethics investigation against Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), has a troubled past himself, reports the Washington Post.
Not only has Kevin L. Cohee reportedly been arrested twice on sexual-assault and drug charges-although he has denied the arrests-the federal government also issued a “cease and desist” order to the bank due to his supposed living allowance that allowed him to live in a mansion.
Cohee’s bank purchased or leased luxury real estate for him-including an $880,000 condominium in Miami and a $26,250-a-month mansion in Santa Monica owned by Bruce Springsteen’s drummer-and reportedly paid for his Porsche.
Cohee promoted the bank as a responsible investor in minority communities, which Waters then helped promote in her district. Waters has described herself as a “professional and social” friend of Cohee.
Stedman Graham was born on March 6, 1951 in Whitesboro, NJ, a community founded in 1901 by a group of prominent African-Americans which included Booker T. Washington and Paul Laurence Dunbar.
Stedman attended Middle Township High School where the 6’6? phenom starred on the varsity basketball team.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Hardin-Simmons University, he played professionally in Europe for a few years before returning to the U.S. to work on his Master’s in Education from Ball State.

Most importantly, Mr. Graham has exhibited a lifelong commitment to community via Athletes Against Drugs (AAD), a non-profit organization he founded in 1985 which remains dedicated to developing leadership in underserved youth through scholarships and education. Racist Michelle Obama Email Costs Tenn. Exec Contract. A Tennessee tourism executive is feeling the wrath after forwarding an e-mail that likened Michelle Obama to a chimpanzee. Tennessee Hospitality Association CEO Walt Baker has apologized to “anyone who is offended by this action” and “the people of Tennessee, and to anybody that has either seen or been affected by this email.” The controversial e-mail, sent to Spyridon, Mayor Karl Dean’s legislative liaison, public relations executives and members of the Nashville media, compared Obama to Cheeta, the chimp sidekick in Tarzan movies. It opened with a quote attributed to comedian Larry the Cable Guy: “I don’t care who you are, this is funny…” and ended with a photo of Mrs. Obama, caught in an awkward moment with her lips pursed, and one of a chimpanzee. Baker also apologized in an e-mail to Nashville Metro Council members Saturday saying the message was not intended to be malicious but meant as “political humor.” The e-mail has already cost Baker’s a deal with the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, reports the Tennessean. On Saturday, the venue said it would drop its contract with the marketing firm. “The attitudes expressed in the e-mail are both appalling and unacceptable,” the head of the NCVB told the Tennesseean, and the mayor called the message “extremely offensive.” Complicating the marketing expert’s PR fiasco is his initial reaction: “It was done in the spirit of having some fun with some close friends,” he told Nashville Scene.
