Steve Harvey Chris Rock and Mo’Nique grace the new issue of Ebony magazine. The cover is hot as the magazine undergoes a new design. I love the new look of Ebony and the revised contents. Hats off to Amy DuBois Barnett and her amazing staff! Since I mentioned Chris Rock, he’s headed to Broadway playing a drug counselor in the production The M***F*** With The Hat (yes that’s the title). Previews kick off March 15th, and the play ends June 26th. Steve Harvey is gearing up for his Foundation’s Gala on April 4th in New York City. Sherri Shepherd will be co-hosting and honorees include Tyler Perry and Chris Rock and his wife Malaak.
Internet reports claimed 2010 Supporting Actress Oscar winner Mo’Nique “refused” to be a presenter at this year’s Oscars, even though previous Oscar winners always present the next year (she won Best Supporting Actress in 2010 for Precious).
Word had it that she was upset with Oprah Winfrey for doing a show with her brother Gerald Imes, who had sexually abused the actress when she was a child.
Nonsense, says her manager and husband Sidney Hicks: She had to shoot two episodes of her BET talk show Monday in Atlanta, so she made a point to announce the nominees last month.
President Barack Obama is praising comedian Jon Stewart’s upcoming “Rally to Restore Sanity,” saying it may help instill more “courtesy” in American political life.
Speaking Wednesday in Richmond, Virginia, the president welcomed the idea behind the October 30 rally, which Stewart described as an effort for people who expect common sense and courtesy in daily interactions.
The event is a thinly veiled dig at right-wing icon Glenn Beck’s “Restore America” march on Washington’s National Mall last month.
“I was amused,” Obama said of ‘The Daily Show’ host’s rally.
“They may not be following every single issue, because they just don’t have time. But they are just expecting some common sense and some courtesy in how people interact,” he said about average people simply “going about their business,” “looking after their families” and “working hard every day.”
“And having those voices lifted up is really important.”
After Stewart’s announcement, Stewart’s alter-ego Stephen Colbert used his own TV show on Comedy Central to invite Americans to attend another rally, which he dubbed the “March to Keep Fear Alive.”
Last night on “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart exposed the GOP’s new “Pledge to America,” plan as nothing more than a retread of Republican rhetoric from the last 20 years.
Stewart began by remembering two years ago when Republican senators previously pledged to make the GOP a “party of new ideas,” trying things like forum website America Speaking Out, and other ideas that ultimately failed. Now, with midterms around the corner, Republicans are trying to reinvent themselves once more, promising things like reduced spending, smaller government, permanent tax cuts, and other things that sound oddly familiar.
“Your fresh new ideas,” Stewart said, “sound slightly – I’m sorry, did I say slightly? – sound EXACTLY like your old ones.”
“This isn’t even a sequel,” Stewart said. “This is a shot-by-shot remake!”

At 85 years of age, Roger married Jenny, a lovely 25 year old.
Since her new husband is so old, Jenny decides that after their wedding she and Roger should have separate bedrooms, because although she loves him deeply, she is concerned that her new but aged husband may over exert himself if they spend the entire night together.
After the wedding festivities Jenny prepares herself for bed and the expected knock on the door. Sure enough the knock comes, the door opens and there is Roger, her 85 year old groom, ready for action. They unite as one. All goes well, Roger takes leave of his bride, and she prepares to go to sleep.
After a few minutes, Jenny hears another knock on her bedroom door, and it’s Roger, again and he is ready for more ‘action’. Somewhat surprised, Jenny consents for more coupling. When the newlyweds are done, Roger kisses his bride, bids her a fond good night and leaves.
She is set to go to sleep again, but, you guessed it – Roger is back again, rapping on the door, and is as fresh as a 25-year-old, ready for more ‘action’, and, once more they enjoy each other.
As Roger gets set to leave again, his young bride says to him, ‘I am thoroughly impressed that at your age you can perform so well and so often. I have been with guys less than a third of your age who were only good for once. You are truly a great lover, Roger.’
Roger, somewhat embarrassed, turns to Jenny and says:
‘You mean I’ve been here already?’
The moral of the story:
Don’t be afraid of getting old, Alzheimer’s has its advantages.
PS. Have I sent this to you already??
