The Reverend Jesse Jackson is also making headlines. Last week, published reports came out claiming he wasn’t paying child support for his 12-year-old love child. Years ago, Jackson had a child outside of his marriage with his jump off. Karin Stanford got her face cracked when she thought Jackson would leave his wife Jacqueline and marry her. Stanford claims Jackson owes her $12,000 in back support, and says he gives her money when he wants to. Jackson claims he has been paying his child support.
Star Jones is coming back to The View! Jones left the show in a firestorm six years ago, but she’s returning to the show as a guest in February. Jones will be discussing heart disease as February is Women’s Heart Health Month……. and ratings sweeps month.

The New England Patriots and the New York Giants will battle it out in the Superbowl. All eyes will be on Indianapolis the weekend of February 3rd. On Friday, the 3rd, it’s the gospel celebration which is part of the Superbowl festivities with Fantasia, Wayne Brady, Hezekiah Walker, CeCe Winans, and Donnie McClurkin.
The 84th Annual Academy Awards is February 26th. The show will air on ABC, and Billy Crystal is hosting. The movie The Help has nabbed four nominations including Best Actress for Viola Davis, Best Supporting Actress for Octavia Spencer and Best Picture. The Help is also dominating the Screen Actors Guild Awards with four nominations, including Best Ensemble Cast, Best Actress (Viola Davis) and Best Supporting Actress (Octavia Spencer). The SAG Awards take place on February 26th.The Help just won the Black Critics Award for Best Picture.
No prenup? Then no wedding and no marriage! The Queen Of Soul, Aretha Franklin caved into family pressures and canceled her upcoming summer wedding to long-time beau, Willie Wilkerson. Franklin’s sons did not want her to get married because they were worried about their place in her life and her fortune. Wilkerson and Franklin have been dating for close to 25 years. He felt he didn’t need to sign a prenup, but her sons and family felt differently. In the end, she caved into family pressure. The wedding has been called off, and now everyone is wondering if she will continue her relationship with Wilkerson. Look for Re Re to be one of the headliners of The 2012 Essence Music Festival taking place July 6th, 7th and 8th in New Orleans. Also on the bill are Fantasia, SWV, Keyshia Cole, Mary J. Blige, Ledisi, Charlie Wilson, Raheem DeVaughn, Vivian Green and Stephanie Mills.
Can Fantasia trust her baby daddy Antwuan Cook? According to published reports, Fantasia hoped having a baby by Cook would make him marry her and they would raise their son together. But, Cook is still married to his wife, and he has spotted with other women. Will Cook ever settle down and marry Fantasia?

The divorce war between former football player Deion Sanders and his wife Pilar is getting nasty. Pilar describes Sanders as a cheater, a bully and a physical abuser. Pilar says he needs help. The Sanders were married for 12 years, and they have three kids. Pilar wants their prenup agreement thrown out because she says she was forced to sign it under duress. She also claims she should have sole custody of their children because Deion is a bad, absentee father.
There is life after All My Children. Soap Vet Susan Lucci has a new show Deadly Affairs on Investigation Discovery. Lucci hosts the show about romances gone wrong, crimes of passion, love triangles and betrayals.
Now that Baby Blue is here, Beyonce and her mom Tina are now putting their heads together designing t-shirts for President Obama’s reelection campaign. The Yes We Can and Words Do Inspire t-shirts will be available this spring.
The 43rd Annual NAACP Image will air on NBC Friday, February 17th. The show had been airing on FOX the past few years, but is now returning to NBC.
Food Network Star and Cooking Maven Paula Deen is catching hell after revealing that she has diabetes. Deen kept her secret for three years, and she is being criticized for coming forward only after getting money as a paid spokesman for a diabetic medication. Deen had to protect her brand. She is known for the butter and fatty foods that she loves to cook. Deen says she tells people to eat in moderation as she does. She has already started an exercise program and is losing weight.
Friday, October 21st is the day we get to see the twin babies of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. Son Moroccan and daughter Monroe will be introduced to the world with Barbara Walters on 20/20. The babies were born in late April. Carey tried to sell the first photos, but she wasn’t offered the millions she hoped. This will be the first time we will see the twins.

Former American Idol Winner Fantasia had to answer a lot of tough questions this week. Fantasia is scheduled to star as Gospel Great Mahalia Jackson in a big screen movie bio. Fantasia says no contracts have been signed. She was told the investors ran out of money, so she thinks the project is on hold. Reports came out last week producers of the Mahalia project and family members were upset with Fantasia because she is pregnant by a married man. They also claimed she lied about her pregnancy claiming she told them she was gaining weight for the role and not pregnant. Who is telling the truth here? Will this movie ever get made? Fantasia is due at the end of the year. She is not happy with the recent reports about the movie project and questions about her relationship with a married man (Antwaun Cook). This has been a difficult pregnancy for Fantasia.

The re-launch of the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) has been slow. Oprah has returned to TV along with a new addition: The Rosie O’Donnell Show. Both shows debuted to disappointing ratings.
Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton are teaming up for the movie Joyful Noise. The movie also stars KeKe Palmer and Courtney B. Vance and opens in theatres January 13th.
Alicia Keys will be doing the music for the new Broadway production Stick Fly, which debuts later this year.

Singer Kenny Lattimore recently opened up about his upcoming divorce from Singer Chante Moore. Lattimore says it is a private matter and that he is not gay, responding to rumors about his sexuality. He says he wishes it would have worked out, but they have a son and will always have a bond.
Mel B wants to lose the baby weight. The former Spice Girl and babymomma of Eddie Murphy recently had a baby girl with her husband Stephen Belafonte. Mel says she wants to lose some weight. She now weighs 165 and wants to get down to 132 with the help of Jenny Craig. Mel B is going to be the spokesperson for their overseas campaign.
Producer/Composer Nile Rodgers of Chic fame has finished his book, and the release date has been moved up. The book, Le Freak: An Upside Down Story Of Family, Disco And Destiny, is coming out October 18th. It will detail his music career and his battle with cancer. Rodgers has worked with Diana Ross, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Madonna and Sister Sledge.
John Legend is now a television producer. Legend is producing a family comedy for NBC called Mixed Blessings.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has signed off on Eddie Murphy as host of its 84th annual Academy Awards, which ABC will broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Feb. 26.
Murphy, who shot to fame in the 1980s – first on “Saturday Night Live,” and then in movies like “48 Hrs.” and “Beverly Hills Cop” – was the first choice of producer Brett Ratner, who also directed Murphy in his upcoming film, “Tower Heist.”
It will be the first time that Murphy has hosted the show. He has appeared as a presenter on several broadcasts, most recently in 2009 when he presented the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Jerry Lewis. He also received an Oscar nomination as best supporting actor for his performance in the 2006 musical “Dreamgirls.”
Universal will release “Tower Heist” Nov. 4. The performer also has a second feature, “A Thousand Words,’ coming from DreamWorks on Jan. 13.
