Will and Jada Together in Malibu.

What’s the fastest way to squash rumors of a break-up? Make sure the paparazzi snaps photos to suggest otherwise. One day after denying their marriage was ending, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith stepped out together to shop in Malibu, Calif. Paps caught them this morning at the Malibu Colony Company, where they stopped into the Cross Creek store and Ultrecht Art Supplies after sharing breakfast at Bob Morris’ Paradise Cove Beach Café. “We are still together, and our marriage is intact,” the couple of 13 years said in a joint statement Tuesday, responding to tabloid reports of a split. In fact, earlier that morning they were spotted at a Michaels craft store picking out art supplies for Pinkett Smith. “They were laughing and being cutesy – they seemed to be getting along just fine,” an onlooker told People.com at the time.

Nick Ashford – RIP

Nick Ashford of Ashford & Simpson Dies from Throat Cancer at 70. *(Via AP/Yahoo News) – Nick Ashford, one-half of the legendary Motown songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson that penned elegant, soulful classics for the likes of Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye and funk hits for Chaka Khan and others, died Monday at age 70, his former publicist said. Ashford, who along with wife Valerie Simpson wrote some of Motown’s biggest hits, died in a New York City hospital, said Liz Rosenberg, who also was Ashford’s longtime friend. He had been suffering from throat cancer and had undergone radiation treatment, she said. Though they had some of their greatest success at Motown with classics like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Reach Out And Touch Somebody’s Hand” by Ross and “You’re All I Need To Get By” by Gaye and Tammi Terrell, Ashford & Simpson also created classics for others, like the anthem “I’m Every Woman” by Khan (and later remade by Whitney Houston). Ashford and Simpson’s relationship stretched more than four decades. They met in 1964 in a New York City church; Ashford, a South Carolina native, had come to the city to pursue a dance career. Simpson was a music student, and after connecting with her, they decided to start to write songs together.

Lauryn Hill – did marriage ever cross your mind?

The Kid Is Not My Son! No, this isn’t the Michael Jackson classic Billie Jean, but it’s Rohan Marley, the longtime partner of Singer Lauryn Hill. For seven months, Hill kept her pregnancy a secret, and Rohan said he wasn’t the father. Rohan and Hill have five children together, and when they met and hooked up, he was already married with two kids. Hill, 36, describes her relationship with Rohan as long and complex. She recently admitted he was not the father of her sixth child, a boy born last weekend. The baby came four weeks early, and Hill had to have emergency surgery. Rohan has been spotted with a Brazilian model who has not been quiet about her love for Rohan. Hill says she appreciates the well wishes, but now she is concentrating on her children.

She claims that she has been seeing him for years, and he promised to buy her a ring. Where is Bryant’s wife Vanessa you may ask? Why she’s playing the role of the quiet wife who will do anything for the right amount of diamonds and money.

PRACTICE LOVING THEM:

Here are some things you are not supposed to love. Practice loving them:
Sex
Money
Yourself
Power
Glory
Fame
Success
Winning
The Adulation of Others
Being Better
Having More
Knowing How
Knowing Why
Knowing God

“THE THINGS YOU WANT MOST”

Yet I tell you this: love, love, love the things you desire – for your love of them draws them to you.

These things are the stuff of life. When you love them, you love life! When you declare that you desire them, you announce that you choose all the good that life has to offer!

So choose sex – all the sex you can get! And choose power – all the power you can muster! And choose fame – all the fame you can attain! And choose success – all the success you can achieve! And choose winning – all the winning you can experience!

Yet do not choose sex instead of love, but as a celebration of it. And do not choose power over, but power with. And do not choose fame as end in itself, but as a means to a larger end. And do not choose success as the expense of others, but as a tool with which to assist others. And do not choose winning at any cost, but winning that costs others nothing, and even brings them gain as well.

Go ahead and choose the adulation of others – but see all others as being upon which you can shower adulation, and do it!
Go ahead and choose being better – but not better than others; rather, better than you were before..
Go ahead and choose having more, but only so that you have more to give.

And yes, choose “knowing how” and “knowing why” – so that you can share all knowledge with others.
And by all means choose to KNOW GOD, in fact, CHOOSE THIS FIRST, and all else will follow.

All of your life you have been taught that it is better to give than to receive. Yet you cannot give what you do not have.

Is There Such A Thing As A “Credible” Rape Victim?

Unlike notorious Duke Lacrosse accuser Crystal Mangum, some women are actually crying “rape”…not “wolf”
In the last few weeks we’ve learned a number of valuable lessons. Among them:

1. Apparently if you are poor, you should not expect to be taken seriously if you accuse someone who is not poor, of sexually assaulting you (or trying to).
2. Similarly, if you are powerless, you should not expect to be taken seriously if you accuse someone who is powerful, of sexually assaulting you.
3.If you are intoxicated—at all—you should not expect the judicial system to take you seriously if you accuse someone of sexually assaulting you.
4. If you are worried that you are in a vulnerable state—intoxicated or otherwise—and therefore worried that you could find yourself in danger (of sexual assault or other bodily harm), don’t call the police.
5. If you do call the police, and they take advantage of you, don’t expect the judicial system to take your complaint seriously. (See numbers 1 through 4).

We should thank the two former New York City police officers who were supposed to be coming to the aid of an intoxicated woman, but instead admitted to “cuddling” with her in bed (but not “assaulting” her), for teaching us these valuable lessons. We should also thank the jurors who acquitted them of the most serious charges they faced, stemming from that night. And lastly, we can thank the defenders of Dominique Strauss-Kahn for driving these points home through their endless efforts to trash—and when that didn’t seem to work— allegedly buy off his accuser and her family.

The treatment of both of these women—in one case, by the legal system and in both cases, by the media wild west of cyberspace— begs the question: Is there such a thing as a credible rape victim? Does she exist? Is there any woman on the planet whose word, reputation and behavior is considered beyond reproach enough that she can accuse someone in power of assaulting her and have a real shot at being taken seriously? Or should we just save ourselves some time and just make a rule right now, that only wealthy, tee-totaling nuns should be allowed to make sexual assault claims? Meaning the rest of us, should we find ourselves in harm’s way, are just out of luck?

Now before we get inundated with scolding e-mails, know that there are women who make and have made false assault claims. Anyone who would do such a thing should face serious punishment (including jail time) for doing so. But statistically we know that the pendulum tends to swing much further in the opposite direction—meaning many more sexual assaults go unreported, than go over-reported, despite the media frenzy that cases like the Duke Lacrosse scandal can generate.
