In addition to his men’s line at the K&G Fashion Superstore, Blair Underwood will be introducing anew cologne and candle line calledInterconnected. Underwood is also currently on Broadway in A Street Car Named Desire. The cast also includes Nicole Ari Parker, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Wood Harris.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell is coming to TV in a new reality competition show. On the show, The Face Campbell, will serve as a judge. The show will air on the Oxygen channel.
Actor Jaleel White has a new show on the SCI-FI Channel. It’s an extreme game show which airs on Wednesday nights. White was recently bounced from Dancing With The Stars. Many feel his personal life got in the way of his dancing abilities on the show. His baby momma went to the press about past abuse from him. White also in got to an altercation with his dance partner Kym Johnson on the show. I think this hurt his public perception on the show and he got bounced. White is best known for his work as “Steve Urkel” on the show Family Matters.
Towanna Iverson has filed a restraining order against her husband former NBA Superstar Allen Iverson. Mrs. Iverson says her hubby has been harassing her. The Iversons have five kids. Towanna also says Iverson has been hiding money from her, and she can’t afford to feed her family.
No more Khloe and Lamar Odom on the E network! Their self-titled reality show is not being renewed. Odom is now trying to concentrate on his NBA career, and Khloe is in talks to do her own spinoff show minus Odom. In other E network news, get ready for Mary J. Blige. She’s going to be one of the stars of the talent series Opening Act. It’s a talent competition show where they search for talent on the internet. The winner will open up for an A-list music star. The show debuts July 9th.
Will there be a sequel to Steve Harvey’s hit movie Think Like A Man? The movie took in over $60 million at the box office. The movie, based on Harvey’s best-selling book, claimed the no.1 spot at the box office two weeks in a row. I hear they may be a sequel which will focus on marriage and a trip to Las Vegas.
John Legend is replacing Lionel Richie on the ABC singing reality show Duets. Now that Richie will be on tour to promote his number one album Tuskegee, Legend will join Kelly Clarkson and Robin Thicke as they go across the country searching for the perfect duet partner. The show premieres May 24th on ABC.
The Soul Man is the name of Cedric The Entertainer’s new TV Land sitcom. He stars along with Actress/Comedienne Niecy Nash, and he plays Reverend Boyce, an R&B singer turned preacher. The show debuts later this year.
Remember the 1974 movie Uptown Saturday Night with Sidney Poitier, Bill Cosby and Harry Belafonte (plus a who’s who of cameos)? Well a remake is in the works with possible stars Denzel Washington and Will Smith. Smith bought the rights to remake the three movies Poitier/Cosby films made in the 1970’s. Let’s Do It Again and A Piece Of The Action are the other two.
Cissy Houston is planning on writing a book about her daughter Whitney Houston. Cissy, 78, says she plans to write about the good and the bad with her daughter. Gospel Star BeBe Winans is also writing a book about his friendship with Houston. In other Whitney news, her ex-husband Bobby Brown sat down with Matt Lauer of The Today Show. Brown says he is not the reason for Whitney’s downfall. Brown says he has been clean and sober from narcotics for seven years. He says he saw his ex-wife a week before her death, but didn’t know she was still struggling. He also says their reality TV show, Being Bobby Brown, was a wakeup call for them. Brown says the show made them realize how their drug use was affecting their lives.
Author Toni Morrison is getting a new honor. She is going to be awarded the Presidential Medal Of Freedom. The 81-year old author just released a new book called Home. Morrison is best known for the books The Bluest Eye, Song Of Solomon and Beloved.
What was going on in that prison? Mike Tyson says during his three years in jail for rape, he got a prison official pregnant. He says she did not have the baby. Tyson, who recently performed a one-man show in Las Vegas, mentioned this to ESPN as one of the subjects he left out of the show. Back in 1992, Tyson was sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping an 18-year old woman. He was released in 1995 after serving three years.
Congrats to Tamera Mowry-Housley and her husband Adam. They are expecting their first child. The former Sister Sister co-star is currently featured on the Style Network reality show Tia & Tamera with her twin sister Tia Mowry-Hardrict. Tamera and Adam were married last May. Tamera’s pregnancy comes ten months after her sister Tia gave birth to her first child Cree. Tamera is due in November.
Congrats to Basketball Star Chris Paul. He and his wife Jada are expecting their second child, a daughter. The college sweethearts already have a three-year old son Chris, Jr.
Get well wishes go out to NBC 10’s Glenn “Hurricane” Schwartz. The bow-tied meteorologist is currently recovering from successful double bypass surgery. Get well soon Glenn!
Changes are coming to The Real Housewives of Atlanta. First, Sheree Whitfield won’t be back on the show. She says she wasn’t happy, but sources say the producers weren’t happy with her diva attitude and demands for more money. Kim Zolchiak may not be returning either. She is in talks to get a spinoff show featuring her wedding, pregnancy and nine-month old baby. Meanwhile, NeNe Leakes is launching a shoe line with her new BFF Kim Kardashian.
The Hudson family murder trial got underway this week in Chicago. Oscar Winner Jennifer Hudson took the stand and broke down to testify against her ex brother-in-law William Balfour, who is accused of killing her mother, brother and 7-year old nephew. Among other things, Jennifer testified about warning her sister Julia not to marry Balfour.
Former Football Star Terrell Owens and all his babymommas are coming to the Dr. Phil show. Owens, who used to play with the Eagles, Cowboys and 49ers, is having major babymomma and child support drama. If he doesn’t pay his back child support, and it is in the thousands, he could wind up in jail. Owens needs a football gig because he can’t make the payments. Well here comes Dr. Phil to the rescue. Can he, Owens and the babymommas sort things out.
Look for major changes on America’s Next Top Model. Tyra Banks is shaking the show up for the 19th season. Nigel Barker, Miss J (Jay Alexander) and Mr. J (Jay Manuel) have been let go. No word yet on who will replace them. Banks said even though she loves her guys, it was time to give the show a lift. The ex-America’s Top Model judges have been making the rounds in the press, and for now, they say they’re ready to move on to other things.
Beverly Johnson’s daughter, Anansa Sims, is expecting her second child with her husband David Patterson. The new baby will join her nine-month old sister Ava. Beverly Johnson and her family recently launched their reality show, Beverly’s Full House. The supermodel’s cable show airs on Saturdays nights at 10pm on OWN.
61-year old Robin Gibb has come out of a coma. Gibb is battling colorectal cancer. He has been ill for most of the year. Doctors had warned his family he may not come out of the coma, but he did. Gibb is responding to his family. Sources say he came out of the coma to the music of his group The Bee Gees, including his brother, Barry, singing to him.
Singer Ledisi is writing her first book entitled Better Than Alright: Finding Peace, Love and Power. She is also coming to town Sunday, June 24th at the Keswick with Eric Benet.
Congrats to Think Like A Man Co-Star Meagan Good. She’s getting married. Good is engaged to DeVon Franklin. Franklin is an executive at Sony Pictures, and he is a Seventh Day Adventist Preacher. He co-produced the movie Jumping The Broom, which co-starred Megan and where the couple began dating. Franklin also worked with Bishop T.D. Jakes on the upcoming Sparkle movie.
Is a black bachelor coming to ABC? In an effort to boost ratings and interest in the show The Bachelor, producers may cast an African American male to pick from the competing bachelorettes. Word has it a Portland, Oregon sportscaster, Lamar Hurd, may be cast on the show.
We had a great time at the Philly premiere of Think Like A Man. The Steve Harvey film opens in theatres on the 20th. I loved this movie, very funny and the cast is great! The movie is based on Harvey’s bestselling book. Taraji P. Henson, Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Regina Hall, Terrence J, Romany Malco, Meagan Good, Gabrielle Union, Gary Owens and Jennifer Lewis lead an all-star cast. The cameos are going to blow you away. Think Like A Man is sexy, romantic and very funny. Make plans to see this movie because people are going to be talking about it for a while. Yes! Believe the hype. Think Like A Man is a great movie.
The Hudson Family murder trial is getting underway in Chicago. Jennifer Hudson’s family members were murdered in 2008. William Balfour is on trail for the deaths of Hudson’s mother (Darnell Donerson), brother (Jason Hudson) and seven-year old nephew (Julian King). Balfour, 30, faces a maximum life sentence. Jury section has been finalized. Sources say Balfour, who was married to Jennifer Hudson’s sister Julia, had made threats to the family before. Jennifer says she plans to be there for every day of the trial in Chicago.
View Co-Host Sherri Shepherd is still in shock after being eliminated from Dancing With The Stars. Shepherd cried like a baby after being the third contestant to be booted off the show. Shepherd had been working really hard on the show, and she thought she would last a while. Next week, the judges are going to decide on who gets the boot.
Singer Montell Jordan is best known for his hit song This Is How We Do It, but right now he is having a hard time with the I.R.S. They claim he owes them over $600,000. Jordan says he settled the debt a while ago. He is just waiting for funds to be released from a business deal where he sold the rights to his music catalog. Jordan has also written and produced huge hits for others like Deborah Cox (Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here) and Sisqo (Incomplete) to name just a couple.
The Jacksons are going on tour. It’s The Unity Tour with Tito, Jackie, Marlon and Jermaine. They are doing a show June 29th at the Borgata in Atlantic City.
Former Football Star Warren Sapp has filed for bankruptcy. Sapp says he’s broke, and he’s lost his Superbowl ring. Sapp won the ring back in 2002. He is millions of dollars in debt, and he owes hundreds of thousands in back child support to four different women.
Pam Grier’s autobiography could be coming to the big screen. Grier says if it happens she wants everybody’s go to actress, Halle Berry, to play her on the big screen.
O.J. Simpson is feuding with his daughter Arnelle. Simpson, 64, is currently serving a 33-year prison sentence on kidnapping, armed robbery and assault charges. He was sentenced in 2008. Simpson put his daughter in charge of his affairs, but she has let his Florida home go into foreclosure. Apparently, Arnelle has not paid the mortgage in two years. Friends say Arnelle has been drinking and partying, and she figures her dad isn’t getting out of prison anytime soon. O.J. Simpson knows his daughter is squandering his NFL pensions on shopping and booze.
Gabrielle Union is on a roll. She is one of the stars of Think Like A Man. Check her out on the cover of the latest issue of Jet magazine. She also has a new show coming up on BET, Being Mary Jane, from the producers of The Game.
Producer Shonda Rhimes has a hit on her hands with her latest ABC drama Scandal. Scandal stars Kerry Washington and Columbus Short. I like the fast pace of the show. Rhimes also has Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Scandal airs Thursday nights at 10pm on ABC. Washington plays “Olivia Pope,” a woman who gets the job done as a Washington enforcer.
The FOX network is gearing up to mark 25 years on the air. Sunday, April 22nd it’s their silver special with The Wayans (In Living Color), The cast of Married With Children, and Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) will be on hand, just to name a few. In other FOX news, FOX News Channel has hired Jesse Jackson’s oldest daughter, Santita Jackson, as a liberal voice on their network. Santita is a radio host in Chicago.
The Mighty O, Winfrey is feeling the pressure of owning her OWN cable network. She recently admitted in an interview with CBS This Morning that if she had to do it all over again, she would do it differently. For example, waiting to kick off her network once she finished her own daytime show. The losses have been staggering since the start of the OWN channel. There have been many misses: The Rosie Show, The Judds, The Gayle King Show, The O’Neals and Shania Twain, but there have been some bright spots including Oprah’s Life Classes, Oprah’s Next Chapter and Welcome To Sweetie Pie’s. Launching a new network is a daunting task. In an age of instant everything, hopefully the network will grow in the ratings and find its footing. Another bright spot to come may be Iyanla Van Zandt getting her own show on OWN. Iyanla: Fix My Life debuts later this year. The paperback version of Van Zandt’s latest book, Peace Through Broken Pieces, is out now in bookstores.
Speaking of Think Like A Man, the April issue of Essence magazine features dual covers of the film’s stars. The movie, based on the Steve Harvey’s best-selling book, opens in theatres on the 20th. One Essence cover features Taraji P. Henson and the other features Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy and Taraji. In more Michael Ealy news, his new TV show, Common Law, debuts this summer on the USA network.
Congrats to Producer Shonda Rhimes. Rhimes, the force behind Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and the new Kerry Washington show Scandal, is a mommy again. Rhimes adopted a second baby girl. She adopted her first daughter in 2002.
Usher is getting ready for the big screen. He will be playing Boxing Great Sugar Ray Leonard in an upcoming movie. He is currently training in London. Usher has a new CD, Looking For Myself, coming out on June 22nd.
This Saturday we celebrate the music and legacy of Marvin Gaye. Had he lived, he would have been 73-years-old. He died April 1, 1984, the day before his 45th birthday.

Actress Zoë Saldana is mending a broken heart. Saldana is best known for her roles in Avatar, Drumline and Columbiana. Saldana had been dating a Hollywood heartthrob, Actor Bradley Cooper, for the past few months, but Cooper recently ended the relationship. The former couple has a new movie called The Words coming out later this year. It was on that movie set where their romance began.
It’s going to have to be a change of lifestyle for Reality Star Tami Roman. Roman suffered a mild heart attack early last week. Roman is one of the stars of the VH-1 reality show Basketball Wives: Miami. Roman has been a reality star for years starting with MTV’s The Real World in the 90’s. On Basketball Wives, there is lots of drinking and fighting, and Roman is going to have to cut down on both. Roman says she is battling heart disease, and she realizes she must make a change in her life.
Mary Mary’s (sisters Tina and Erica) new reality show debuts on the WE Network next week. Thursday March 29th is the debut of their show called Mary Mary. The show will feature the gospel stars as they juggle their careers and their ever growing families. The ladies have a new song out called Go Get It, which is the title track to their new album due out in May. Congrats to Tina Campbell from the duo. She is expecting her fifth child. Tina’s sister Erica gave birth to a baby girl a few weeks ago.

A Detroit business deal has gone belly up for Singer Keith Sweat. Sweat has some real estate in the motor city, but the homes went into foreclosure. The banks took the homes saying he defaulted on the loan, and now he still has to pay $250,000.
Get ready for more Rapper/Actor T.I. on TV. His reality show, The Family Hustle on VH1 with his wife Tiny, has been renewed for another season. Plus, he has signed on for the Showtime series The Boss with Kelsey Grammer and Sanaa Lathan.
Braxton Family Values has been renewed for another season. Yes! It’s the further adventures of Toni and her sisters. Plus the breakout star Tamar is getting her own spinoff with her husband Vince.
Katie Couric’s new daytime talk show debuts September 10th.
Niecy Nash is getting a reality show based around her family life. The show, Leave It To Niecy, debuts Sunday at 10pm on the TLC network.

It’s another baby for Real Housewives Of Atlanta Star Kim Zolciak. Zolciak is four months pregnant. Nine months ago, she gave birth to a baby boy. This is her second child with Football Star Kroy Biermann.
Tiger Woods’ former Swing Coach Hank Haney is writing a book about his days with the golf great. Before infidelity destroyed his marriage and image, Tiger Woods was on top of the world. Now those who were closest to him are making money off of his life. In the book, Haney talks about Woods ex-wife Elin Nordegren. He claims she wasn’t allowed to smile on the golf course when Tiger won, and that Tiger wouldn’t let her be openly affectionate in public. So what was the reason for the no smiling? Haney says Woods told her you don’t have to smile and be happy for a win because he is supposed to win; that’s their way of life.

Then she hooked up with Shaq, and they appeared to be in love. Despite her past, he was very open about their relationship. Well, Shaq recently turned 40, and he showed up to his party with a new woman. What happened to Hoopz? Apparently, he had his security detail put her out of his home. He felt it was time move on with another woman. What will Hoopz do now? She was hoping to marry Shaq. Maybe Basketball Wives will contact her…oops…uh oh…. that won’t happen! Shaq’s ex-wife Shaunie O’Neal is the producer of that show. This world is too small!

He’s hosting The Kids Choice Awards on Nickelodeon on the 31st. His new Men In Black movie is opening in theatres Memorial Day weekend. The past few weeks have been rough for Will and his wife Actress Jada Pinkett Smith. The tabloids have been running wild with stories of marital strife, but the two appeared at a recent 76ers’ basketball game kissing, hugging and spending family time with their children.

Idol Winner Ruben Studdard is back with a new album called Letters From Birmingham. The first single, June 28th I’m Single, is causing quite a stir. Is there a message in the music? Studdard is no longer with his wife of three years Surata Zuri McCants. Studdard wants a family, but she didn’t want any more kids. This has been a tough time for Studdard. He is working out his tax troubles and is trying to lose the weight he regained. Yes! He lost weight and gained it back. He blames it on eating out and stress. Studdard says he is losing weight and happily single.

Football Star Deion Sanders is teaming up with Producer Tracey Edmonds for a new reality show. Sanders is building a charter school, and he wants to show his life as a single dad. Sanders wants to be known for the good that he is doing and not the nasty divorce he is going through with his current wife Pilar. Pilar has accused Tracey Edmonds, the former wife of Babyface and former fiancée of Eddie Murphy, of having an affair with Sanders.
Fresh from the Broadway stage, Angela Bassett is set to return to TV. Bassett will be one of the stars one of a new spy drama on FOX. Bassett was last on TV in the final season of ER in 208-2009.
The Steve Harvey talk show will be filmed in Chicago. The show debuts in the fall. Alex Duda will be the executive producer. He formerly worked on The Tyra Banks Show, the Style network show Jerseylicious and its spinoff Glam Fairy.
It’s official! Halle Berry is getting married for a third time. Is the third the charm after failed marriages to Baseball’s David Justice and Singer Eric Benet? Berry is engaged to Actor Oliver Martinez. Her previous mates have all cheated on her. Let’s hope Martinez will stay faithful. Berry’s baby daddy Gabriel Aubry thinks the marriage is a ploy to get Martinez to adopt his daughter.
Usher says he will not pay his ex-wife’s lawyers’ fees. Usher is involved in a nasty custody battle with his ex-wife Tameka Foster. He has already paid $25,000 for her lawyers’ fees, and now she is looking for an additional $50,000. Usher says no way because enough is enough. Usher has had trouble with this woman from day one, but now the future of their two children is at stake.
The wedding is on for Football’s Chad Ochocinco and Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada. Their reality show for VH1 is getting them a lot of money: $300,000 each for two months’ work.
Roland is back! Roland Martin returns to CNN after a long suspension following tweets he made during the Superbowl that were called homophobic. The GLADD organization came down hard on him, but they have since met and had discussions. The CNN network subsequently suspended him for his remarks, but now his suspension has been lifted. Martin is known for his candid off the cuff remarks, and we will see a lot of him during the political season.
We remember Singer Jimmy Ellis. Ellis was the lead singer of the group The Trammps. It’s Ellis’ voice on their hits Love Epidemic, Where Do We Go From Here, The Night The Lights Went Out In New York City and their smash Disco Inferno. Ellis was 74-years old, and died after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
Raven-Symoné is headed to Broadway. Raven best known for her Disney hit That’s So Raven and for getting her start on The Cosby Show. Raven is joining the cast of Sister Act staring in the lead role. She takes over on March 27th. Raven started on Broadway with The Boys Choir Of Harlem at the age of five.

Who is making money off of Whitney Houston’s death? Well, all fingers are pointing to Pat Houston. Pat Houston is married to Whitney’s brother Gary. She also served as Whitney’s manager. Pat Houston is being blamed for taking the infamous casket photo and selling the photo to the tabloids for thousands of dollars. Sources say Cissy Houston has confronted Pat, told her to donate the money to charity and save the family from the embarrassment of her actions. During the Oprah interview with Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina, over 3.5 million people watched. There were products placed around the house because Pat Houston made deals on those products. She has been making deals since the death of Whitney Houston over a month ago. During the interview with Oprah, she said she was mad at who published the casket photos…. not at who took the photos. Hmmmmmmmm! What is going on here?
Meanwhile, Bobbi Kris is going to have to be watched. She wants to change her name to Kristina Houston as she distances herself from her father Bobby Brown. Bobbi Kris wants to embark on an acting and singing career. She is also getting very close to her unofficial adopted brother, 22-year old Nicholas Gordon. He was unofficially adopted by Whitney when he was 10. He and Bobbi Kris are very close, and have acting in a manner that is not brother and sister like. Bobbi Kris is in state of turmoil since her mother’s death. She’s been leaning on Gordon for support, but is he taking advantage of her for his own financial gain? The music world is mourning the loss of Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys. Yauch, 47, was a self taught vocalist and bassist. In the 80’s, he ruled the charts as a member of The Beastie Boys with hits like Brass Monkey, Hey Ladies, Get It Together, Sure Shot and (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party). In 1986, their album Licensed To Ill was the first hip hop album to top the albums’ chart. Yauch died after a more than three-year battle with cancer and a month after The Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
We remember famed Hair Stylist Vidal Sassoon. The 84-year old died of natural causes. He opened his first hair salon back in 1954 and became a stylist to the stars. His styling alone for Mia Farrow in the 1968 movie Rosemary’s Baby made him an icon. He later sold his name to Proctor & Gamble and launched the legendary international line of Vidal Sassoon hair care products.
In more realty show news, get ready for Basketball Wives…. the movie! Shaunie O’Neal, the force behind the VH1 reality show, is in talks with Producer Tracey Edmonds (Soul Food) to do a basketball movie. O’Neal is under pressure because of the criticism surrounding her Basketball Wives shows, so she is looking in a new direction. The reality show has come under fire because off all the negativity and fighting. There is already a petition 7,000 strong calling for a boycott of the show and star Evelyn Lozada, who is seen as the main bully on the show. Tami Roman also stars on the show, and she says it’s the producers’ fault because of how they edit the show. Roman’s exploits on the show (fighting and drinking) are well documented. Don’t be surprised if Basketball Wife Jennifer Williams is dropped from the show. Williams is suing the show’s producers regarding an incident where she was slapped on camera by Lozada’s assistant, Nia Crooks. The producers may counter sue Williams regarding her lawsuit because they feel her badmouthing the show is hurting the brand.
