Stedman Graham was born on March 6, 1951 in Whitesboro, NJ, a community founded in 1901 by a group of prominent African-Americans which included Booker T. Washington and Paul Laurence Dunbar.
Stedman attended Middle Township High School where the 6’6? phenom starred on the varsity basketball team.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Hardin-Simmons University, he played professionally in Europe for a few years before returning to the U.S. to work on his Master’s in Education from Ball State.
An enduring, high-profile relationship with Oprah Winfrey has perhaps overshadowed the long list of business and charitable accomplishments accumulated over the course of Mr. Graham’s impressive career as Chairman and CEO of S. Graham & Associates, a management and marketing consulting firm specializing in the corporate and educational fields.
A prolific writer, he is also the author of ten books, two of which became NY Times bestsellers. And he has taught at several colleges, including a course on leadership at the University of Illinois and one on strategic management at Northwestern.
Most importantly, Mr. Graham has exhibited a lifelong commitment to community via Athletes Against Drugs (AAD), a non-profit organization he founded in 1985 which remains dedicated to developing leadership in underserved youth through scholarships and education. Recently, Stedman talked to me about his work with AAD and other projects.
In a 2009 video that has just recently surfaced, NBA legend Michael Jordan was asked to weigh in on the debate about the league’s current best player – Kobe Bryant or LeBron James?
The Web site Ball Don’t Lie uncovered the clip, which was shot last year at one of Jordan’s basketball camps – before James left Cleveland to play for the Miami Heat, and before Bryant and his Lakers won another NBA title.
Air Jordan chose Kobe.

With all the commentaries coming from various states regarding Arizona’s decision on
in essence profiling, have you look into your own backyards for justice.
I’m not upholding Arizona’s decision, but for other states to get on the band wagon is
not fare. To denied essential goods into the state whether commerce or social activities.
is not right. We do understand there is a serious plight of unemployment throughout the
nation, this effects more than just your average commentaries. Let the politicians hammer
out a definitive agreement, with a compromise for all involved. I’m not saying I agree or
disagree, but be fair in your judgement analysis of immigration.
At this point, I believe most Americans would accept the jobs folks thought we wouldn’t
work. Bills have to be paid, families cared for and raised. The state in which I reside wants
to ban certain aspects of Arizona to our state, are you kidding me. Our city is a mess let’s
try to cleanup our own backyard prior to denouncing another. With any decisions comes changes
and challenges, how we cope with those states who we are.
Former track sensation Marion Jones, who was stripped of the three Olympic track gold medals because of steroid use, has signed with the Tulsa Shock of the Women’s National Basketball Association. Jones, 34, became the first female track and field athlete to win five medals at a single Olympics during the 2000 Games in Sydney. But she was forced to forfeit all five medals in 2007 after admitting use of performance-enhancing drugs. A 5-foot-10 guard, Jones attended the University of North Carolina on a basketball scholarship and helped lead the school to the 1994 national championship. She worked out for several WNBA teams before signing with Tulsa, which is coached by former University of Arkansas men’s coach Nolan Richardson. “I may not be your typical rookie in this league, but I’ll still bring that rookie energy,” Jones said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to competing against the best female athletes in the world.” Jones served six months in a federal prison in 2008 for lying about steroid use and her knowledge of a check-fraud scam involving her ex-boyfriend, sprinter Tim Montgomery. “She made some ill-advised decisions in the past, but everyone deserves a second chance to excel at something they love,” Shock President Steve Swetoha said.
More women are coming out of the woodwork, but this time, going after Shaquille O’Neal. Shaunie O’Neal, Shaq’s soon to be ex-wife, should expect a big payday. That’s because it appears Shaq cheated on her throughout their seven-year marriage, and didn’t use protection according to the jumpoffs.
Former Basketball Star Jayson Williams has pleaded guilty to shooting his limo driver. Williams will serve at least 18 months in prison for the 2002 Valentine’s Day cover up and accidental shooting of his limo driver. Williams pleaded guilty to aggravated assault. During the height of his career with the Sixers and Nets, he signed an $86 million contract with the NBA. Since the shooting, his life has been on a downward spiral. Just two weeks ago, he was arrested for drunk driving after crashing his car into a tree.
Are they really worth that much money. I don’t care what sport it is. I didn’t realize there
is a monetary value on human life. And then when said athletes are paid these enormous
salaries, they nut up – why? Could it be that the businesses they are representing does not
care enough to assign or suggest a accountant or fact similarity to train these individuals in
how to spend, save, and pay your damn taxes!
Then you have the women that as soon as they see dollar signs of the said athletes, they become
pregnant sooner then you can blink an eye. Are you kidding me, what about that behavior. Are
the athletes so blinded by fame, they let any woman control their destiny? I believe it is all about
their damn egos, thanks to the producers of said fame.
I do believe you should get paid for a days work, and what is your worth. But athletes come into any
league on a hope and prayer, that they don’t get injured, traded, or just fired for no results in
comparison to their salaries. It’s time owners to put a cap on salaries, and lower your ticket sales.
Benefit all concern, the athletes, the public that supports there games.
