Steve Harvey Chris Rock and Mo’Nique grace the new issue of Ebony magazine. The cover is hot as the magazine undergoes a new design. I love the new look of Ebony and the revised contents. Hats off to Amy DuBois Barnett and her amazing staff! Since I mentioned Chris Rock, he’s headed to Broadway playing a drug counselor in the production The M***F*** With The Hat (yes that’s the title). Previews kick off March 15th, and the play ends June 26th. Steve Harvey is gearing up for his Foundation’s Gala on April 4th in New York City. Sherri Shepherd will be co-hosting and honorees include Tyler Perry and Chris Rock and his wife Malaak.
Mary Harvey has been ordered to shut up! A Texas judge recently ruled that Mary Harvey can no longer talk about her ex-husband Steve Harvey. No more you tube videos, Facebooking, tweeting or MySpace about her ex. The court hearing also proved that Mary wasn’t left destitute and homeless by her ex-husband. In fact, records proved she was getting $40,000 a month, got three houses in a divorce settlement and she voluntarily put her son on a plane sending him to be with his dad. The Harveys are due back in court March 10th. Mary Harvey created a firestorm when she went public with allegations of mistreatment by Steve Harvey. Steve always said the truth will prevail, but a lot of damage has already been done. Why would Mary Harvey go to these great lengths only to be embarrassed in the end because she was lying? Mary Harvey fell into the trap of getting used by other people who had an axe to grind against Steve Harvey. Steve Harvey has been on a roll with his best selling books, TV shows (Family Feud and Steve Harvey Project) and he is happily married to his current wife Marjorie. Check him out on the new issue of Jet magazine. Mary Harvey is going to have to move on with her life and stay away from people who only want to use her for their own agenda.
It’s the war of the Harveys: Steve and his ex-wife Mary. Mary Harvey has been on a media roll talking about how Steve cheated on her, mistreated her, tricked her out of money and took custody of their son. Mary says she is on a mission to represent women who can’t speak out because they have been silenced by their husbands and exes. Will the feuding Harveys be able to settle their differences? Tom Joyner did a pretty fair interview with Mary Harvey, and he offered to help the couple end this very public and nasty feud. Steve and his current wife Marjorie are planning to sue Mary, and I hear they are planning to do an interview with CNN to tell his side of the story.
Steve Harvey is brushing off accusations from his ex-wife Mary Harvey. Mary Harvey claims her ex-husband manipulated her out of money, took custody of her child and now she is broke. Mary has been making media appearances and you tube videos talking about Steve Harvey cheating on her throughout their marriage. Mary also says he was seeing his current wife, Marjorie, while he was married to her. Marjorie has announced plans to sue Mary Harvey for libel. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! Steve said Mary vowed to destroy him, and she is now on a media tour to tear him down. Steve has been working hard getting his life in order with his radio show, bestselling book (Straight Talk No Chaser), magazine covers and TV shows. He is on a roll, but now he’s being attacked from all sides. One thing that he is going to have to do is make amends with his ex-wife for the sake of their son. She is obviously in a lot of pain, and this madness has to stop. Steve said he wanted 2011 to be More God, Less Him in his spiritual journey. Let’s hope this works out.
The Steve Harvey Project kicks off the 15th on BET’s Centric network. The show will air weeknights at 9pm and feature Steve, Nephew Tommy, Shirley Strawberry and Carla Ferrell. Harvey’s latest book, Straight Talk No Chaser, arrives in bookstores December 7th. It’s a follow up to the book Act Like A Lady Think Like A Man. Steve will be in Philly Tuesday, January 18th at the Borders Bookstore on Broad and Chestnut Streets. Also look for Harvey as he presents Ron Isley with a Lifetime Achievement Award at The Soul Train Awards.
A lot of people are talking about Fantasia, and it’s not good. Fantasia shocked a lot of people at the Steve Harvey Hoodie Awards with her behavior. Attendees said she was loud, rude and wore ill fitting clothes. She was also sweating in all the wrong places. Just weeks after a recent suicide attempt, Fantasia was living it up. Is she behaving this way for her reality show? Some believe she’s pregnant by her married boyfriend Antwaun Cook. One industry insider says Fantasia needs a stylist and a therapist. Maybe fame is going to her head. The new season of her reality show is about to kickoff, and her new album, Back To Me, is already high on the charts
Steve Harvey to Begin Hosting Family Feud. Syndicated radio jock-turned-author Steve Harvey adds yet another gig to his resume. FremantleMedia North America has announced that the comedian will take over as host of its syndicated game show “Family Feud” when the new season launches next fall, the AP reports. The company said Harvey was chosen for his ability to connect with viewers and his “one-of-a-kind” personality. Harvey, whose previous TV credits include “Me and the Boys” and “The Steve Harvey Show,” replaces actor John O’Hurley, who hosted “Family Feud” for four seasons. O’Hurley said in a statement that he decided to focus on his role in the touring production of the musical “Chicago” and a variety of business ventures.
James Brown wasn’t lying when he said “This is a man’s world, but it wouldn’t be anything without a woman or a girl.” That lyric sums up American culture better than any other. Men set things into motion and women allow them to let it function. Now if the woman gets hell in her and sees things differently, her crusade to change things usually gets results.
So, in saying all that, Chris Brown and Steve Harvey better cross their fingers and hope that their obvious reconciliation that has blossomed into a working relationship goes over well with the ladies. So far….not looking good. Clutch magazine printed a scathing “review” of the upcoming project “Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man” which hasn’t been released on film yet. But, “Clutch” has taken issue with the fact that “Chris Brown has been announced as one of the film’s stars.”
This gives us little information and if they have so little information on the film, they should’ve maybe kept it hush until they knew what he was being selected to do in the film. He could be in a humiliating role that brings out how he feels about the incident with Rihanna and also gives us insight into why Steve Harvey chose him for the film. There was a time that Steve Harvey publicly decried Chris Brown’s actions and let it be known that he wasn’t one of his favorite people because of it. But it’s obvious that Harvey has changed his thinking toward the pop star.
But there are some things in Clutch’s argument that are valid. The male celebrities tend to get away with murder. Well Chris brown didn’t kill her, but you know what I mean. The culture throughout the world does not tend to be hard on men for their crimes against women. But some women have helped make that possible. A lot of women misrepresent the issues of women by not holding men’s feet to the fire for their crimes against them. Some women, when given the opportunity to press charges, have a voice, or simply walk away from mistreatment, do not choose to defend themselves for various reasons. Even Clutch said:
“I don’t believe that Brown should have been stripped of the opportunity to have a career once he completed his sentence following the 2009 assault on his then-girl. He has technically paid his debt to society, despite whatever his actions thereafter have said about his character. Let him sing, let him dance.”
