Barber’s career is in jeopardy. He was recently dropped from the Sunday night NFL games on NBC. He was also paid $2 million by The Today Show, but he was disappointing and dull on screen. What man turns his back on his pregnant wife? No one likes a jerk. Now NBC has a reason not to renew his contract.

The New York Post is reporting that NFL star-turned-”Today” show correspondent Tiki Barber left his wife of 11 years after hooking up with a 23-year-old intern. According to the newspaper, the former New York Giants running back developed a relationship with former NBC intern Traci Lynn Johnson, and the affair has led him to end things with his wife Ginny Cha – who is currently eight months pregnant with their third child. “After 11 years of marriage, Ginny and I have decided to separate,” Barber said in a statement this week. “This decision was a painful one, but we are moving forward amicably and will continue to work together to raise our children with the love and dedication they have always known.” According to the Post, Johnson was spotted with Barber at a film screening in Washington, D.C. last month and may have accompanied the former football player on a trip to Senegal in late 2009. A Barber family friend told the newspaper that they believe Johnson, who was working as an NBC intern when Barber was hired in 2007, was in Vancouver with Barber while he was covering the Olympics. Photos on Johnson’s Facebook page show her wearing a Giants jersey emblazoned with the number 21, his old number. In a 2004 interview, Barber railed against his own father for leaving his mother. “Not only did he abandon her, I felt like he abandoned us for a lot of our lives,” he said. “I have a hard time forgiving that.”

Today” correspondent and former NFL running back Tiki Barber reportedly tried to get his old job back at the Fox News Channel on the sneak tip last year, but was given the stiff-arm. The ex-New York Giants player has already made headlines this week with allegations that he left his pregnant wife for a 23-year-old intern. Today, the New York Post reports that Barber “tried to come crawling back to ‘Fox & Friends’ because he was upset about being sidelined on the ‘Today’ show. Tiki contributed to the FNC morning show from 2005 to 2007 before joining the “Today” show, “where his underwhelming on-air segments caused producers to use him less and less,” the Post’s Page Six reported. “Tiki was unhappy that ‘Today’ wasn’t using him as much as he thought they would, and he wanted to come back to ‘Fox & Friends,’ ” a source told The Post. “His agent approached Fox about a year ago, but they said, ‘No, thanks.’ He was not perceived as a hot commodity after he left the Giants. And he didn’t make many friends at Fox. Tiki was perceived as very smug and self-absorbed. Plus, he basically used them as a steppingstone to go to ‘Today.’ “
